It is not like you have to pay more fee. The govt pays the half fees for those under privileged kids. Do you think any sane employer shows discrimination while paying salary?
Recently, I filled an application form for DFCCIL (check google) where fee for general category is Rs.1060/- and for SC/ST is zero.
Further, do you know in the essential qualification, they want B.Tech with 3 years experience. Do you think that SC/ST who has a minimum 3 years of working experience after Engineering wouldn’t be able to pay examination fee. The burden to general caste (some might be poor) may be lowered now.
The purpose of similar of subsidies are upbringing those specific cast. There are many engineering with qualification who is not aware about those opportunities. By offering these kind subsidies, it might reach at more peoples.
>Do you think that SC/ST who has a minimum 3 years of working experience after Engineering wouldn’t be able to pay examination fee
I know few of them, it is not because they are incompetent. They decided to be a teacher in their village.
>The burden to general caste
I don’t thing this is burden on general caste. This is subsidized by govt. Do you think general caste are the only one who pays tax?
and one more thing, do you really feel discriminated when you pay 1060 to government?

As for the other points, they will come under the revisions done in the law and as I said before, any law should be revised periodically.

Yes, I support caste based reservation for SC/STs. You need to understand how bad SC/ST were suppressed to know why they need reservation. Even in today’s India, outside cities, a SC/ST person is not able to get basic facilities easily. People refuse to rent houses for SC/ST. Racial discrimination is abundant in college hostels and even in schools, leading to suicides/dropouts in many cases. Heck, the grandparents of the people of my generation were not even allowed to wear shirt, enter temple, pass through upper caste people’s roads. Without reservation, their quality of life would not have changed one bit. We should not look at the city-born SC/ST people who have misused the reservation who are a minor number compared to the plight of the SC/STs all throughout the nation, especially those who do not live in the cities.
Creamy layer is a debatable topic, I do not have strong opinions on it. However, I will not agree to the total fall of standards because of SC/ST reservation, as depicted by anti-reservation campaigns. In fact every year, the quality of the candidates coming in through reservation is increasing. Look at the minimum cutoff mark level going up every year for SC/STs for example in Tamil Nadu medical entrance exams https://plus.google.com/+JMarianoAntoBrunoMasca...
We can add more regulations to SC/ST reservations by bringing in constraints like that they should not immigrate out of India for the next 10 years as a moral repayment to the society or add creamy-layer etc. Again all these points are debatable. But getting away with the caste (SC/ST) based reservation totally is wrong.
Every year we lose more seats to management quota than to SC/ST quota in Indian colleges. So that should be changed. In fact we should get away with the management quota seats concept itself and all seats should be filled in only via statewise counseling. Sadly none of the students or lecturers will protest against these management quota seats, which is a bigger evil than caste based reservation.
Also, I have never understood people who oppose caste based reservation but strongly support gender based reservation.
Reservation can never be the cause of equality if there is reservation for some special category
Suppose I am from general category and some people from sc-sts got admission on 63% marks and I failed to get admission on 79.11% it would create caste friction(it happened with me)
In an ideal society, there won’t much difference in reserved categories and general categories. If there is too much difference in it, something is wrong with the society. may be bad karma of your ancestors.
If you are saying that there is not much difference between general and sc/St then what is the need of reservation and if as you said we are paying for our ancestors s bad karma then I want to know if there is any special law in India s constitution to punish the future generation of someone s misdeeds and if there is some law then there are many others to be punished
We are not in an ideal society. The constitution is not meant to punish people. It is all about bringing equal opportunities for every one.

1) Executive & Legislature will not come forward because that would reduce their vote banks.
2) Judiciary wala solution, you don’t seem to like.
I remember a poem I read somewhere
आदमी को आदमी से बाँट देंगे
Reservation बोलकर सब काट देंगे;
Impossible ऊँचाई बना डाली
तुम vote दो, हम चोट देंगे
हर नए से मोड़ पर,
एक नया बिस्फोट देंगे

2. Received massive funding in the form of scholarship. I have seen him taking 3 scholarships but actual number is still a mystery. His family was literally running on his scholarships.
3. Got placed despite having poor marks.
Completely agree with @ranjithsai01 regarding the education part. The lower caste people do not understand the value of education and simply want to make money. And this does not apply to all of them but majority.
And I read somewhere that the reservation was started for a period of 10 years to equalize all the differences and I support this thing considering the things done to the lower caste people by upper caste during earlier times. But things have changed now and reservation must be removed totally but the problem is the GOVERNMENT which tries to do so would lose its votes. Solution, I don’t know.
Edit: @RichSoul Correctly pointed out. But aren’t the discrimination issues prevalent everywhere ? But is the reservation solution to it ?
Reservation is definitely help those people to integrate better with main stream society. They are many under privileged guys making a career from these reservation. Few bad apples doesn’t waste the entire purpose of reservation.
Many people have some stereotypes about a certain casts which leads to discrimination. If we have better integrated society, we can solve those issues.
I agree with the point that the reservation system in india is flawed like any other indian govt system.

Let me tell you something. No amount of legislation will change this. You can break it down and propose a remedy for each and every bit. It may make a few things better but will never change the situation completely.
Discrimination is in our very marrow. It will continue in one form or another in this society. History stands as a witness to this.
So, what can I, as an individual, do about this? Face the discriminatory attitude which hides in your own mind, kill it. I mean, completely. Make a resolution: I will never discriminate against a human being on any grounds. I will never consider myself superior to anyone.
I think this is the only answer to the reservation issue. There has to be a change in our perception. Nothing less will do.
As @Spock said, see if you can find that day. But remember, it starts now.

To change the perception one needs intellectual people around them. People do not like to listen the truth. People get offended when you say that they are wrong, they come back to avenge you find faults in you.
About changing myself, I consistently try to eliminate all of my bad habits, but that hardly creates a impression on others. It has become some sort of fashion to just go against everything. Whether it makes sense or not that is never taken into consideration.

I come from a family which is considered to be one of the topmost castes in our system and therefore belong to the general category. I say this here because I have a very important question to all those people from the general category who talk against reservations:
Why does no one from the reserved categories speak against this system? Do you guys think that all of them are either unintelligent or greedy?
Please think rationally and then answer. There is no need to get emotional or play the victim.
Yes, most of them are greedy & have become even greedier with all the sops that are dished out by successive governments, throughout the country, just for vote bank politics!
I’ve seen reserved category students get free education, the state govt gives them full refund on tuition fee & then some, & then spend the “free money” on booze, smoke & what not! Not all of them are like that, but you get the point, hopefully
The fact is that with this sense of entitlement, like with any other, not only are the backward classes not progressing anymore but the nation is regressing rapidly, also the really poor people from these reserved (& general) category fall further behind economically as the top elitist, regardless of caste or class, continue to consolidate their powerBottom line → anytime you relegate merit, & bring history to further the cause of any particular section of society, is the moment your nation stops progressing!

As i am currently studying i have seen this kind of debates lots of time and common answer which i get is that before independence SC/STs were abandoned. They coulnt enter temples, wells etc. I do accept that bias existed but after liberalisation of laws and globalisation things have changed in India.
Now if u stop any minority from entering a temple or using public service then u can be jailed. This sttereotyping exists in few remote places even today. But its mostly dominated by one or two Dominant failies in villages who want to control entire villages. Even OCs and OBCs are opressed in those villages.
So there is no point in claiming reservation for what happened decades back. And if u see who is getting benifited then its mostly ppl from urban areas.
Real poor from the villages are never able to break the glass ceiling. For them luxury would be earning 1L per season from their farmland which is often cut short coz of rains/draught etc.
So many farmers r doing suicides every year. And no one tells he is a General cat farmer or something coz in villages atd of living hasnt changed like in cities. Many houses dont even have electricity.
I am sure most of them dont even know what IIM or IIT means. Govt only shows them some mercy at time of elections Otherwis ethey r often forgotten. Have to say that govt has utterly failed to promote higher education in villages.
Whoever is enjoying the reservations are mostly from rich/middle class families living in cities.
There was a article once which told ST cat person can get a interview call from IIM even without answering a ques. But still thee r very few ppl who got the calls! Most of the real underprivileged ppl r not even aware abt this.
Ok lets accept their pt and give them 50% reservation. What happened in IIT roorke is the best example.
out of the 73 expelled students, 31 are from the ST category, 23 from the SC category, four from the physically challenge quota, eight from the OBC quota and 7 from the general category. All 73 students were ousted for scoring less than 5 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in the second semester
http://articles.economictimes.indiatimes.com/20...
When i wrote JEE i coulnt even make it to the cut off coz of intense compition in general cat(arnd 150/580). But my friend in one of the categories got a seat in IIT whose mark was around 80/480. Now he is strugling to clear his subjects there. His father works in central govt and yet he wante to get reservations. Even though i cooulnt get in IITs i am satisfied with my presnt clg and will be finishing my studies in another couple of months and i am happy for that rather than being in my friends position.
src-http://www.embibe.com/100marks/jee-advanced-mar...
So in the end who is getting benifited??? Ppl in the rural areas remain to be poor…. Children of govt employees enjoy the benifits and in most of the cases even after joining top colleges they r not able to utilize the golden opurtunity. And we should also remeber how much the govt is spending on each student in IIM/IIts and NITs and still many r not able to pass all d subjects. Even if they come out from IITs and IIMs they will go again writing civils or some PSU.

After reading history or any subject with an unbiased mind, I think people should come forward with a solution which is unbiased too.
I myself hate casteism and all the incidents which stated in history or documentaries on the issue. Any documentary on casteism should be given wide publicity to get the people know about the injustice some of our fellow indians faced. But when a movie releases on reservation, you know what happens.
Being against Reservation, doesn’t mean I support discrimination. I just want to know, How can one discrimination (Reservation) be the cure for other (Casteism)?
Don’t give them alms, give them arm!
All Cut Offs will be below 70 if all 51% of reservations is removed.
Engineering & Medical reservations Weaken the beneficiaries instead of empowering them.
Govt should give them all economic concessions from KG to PG but no MERIT COMPROMISE.
We are ready to share our “brother’s” economic burden, but merit compromise is damaging country’s & their own future too. How can you Stamp a 12th grade passer or a post-graduate person as “BACKWARD”??
Instead govt should care for lacs of those same caste kids who don’t even cross std 4th. Their progress is the Priority. Don’t give admissions to 40% scorers, empower them to get 80+ .. but don’t deny our 75% in front of 55% ..
Don’t give them alms, give them arm!
