I have a emergency requirement of tatkal today, and trying to prepare the best environment.
Though stuck at payment part.
- Upon exhaustive searches, found that UPI is fastest. Tried the Gpay UPI id option, but it payment notification comes with a delay, and razorpay PG takes another 4-5 seconds to capture the payment.
- Tried saving credit card details on clipboard, and pasting them. data entry process is relatively slow, but Icici landing page seems fast(at least in testing conditions of 2am)
- Someone here mentioned QR based payment, it was relatively faster than above two, but upon my experience working with QR APIs, QR image is most likely to delayed under Tatkaal server stress.
Need your opinion on it

PhonePe and Paytm are the fastest.
The way I do this is to send payment request to my friend's Phonepe i.e another device and he is on standby. As soon as he gets the notification, he pays it immediately. No need to log in using OTP or shuffle between apps in this way

First Add Names, Age Etc To Passenger List In Irctc Profile Page. So No Need To Enter Names During Tatkal Process. (Some Times During Tatkal Servers Heavy Loads, Prefilled Names Won't Show Up Especially Saturday Sunday , Not Sure On App , Then We Need To Enter Manually)
Yes Qr Is 2nd Fastest Method...If U R On Desktop Browser, Selecting Upi Phonepe... It Will Show Qr Code... No Need To Login With Phonepe Otp. Open Scan And Pay Option In Any App And Pay. ( With Phonepe Payment Gateway I Am Paying With Paytm Or Cred For Cashback Offers )

You can add money in mobikwik wallet (or turn on auto-zip if yoy have zip) before the process and use mobikwik wallet option under cards/wallets. There is no redirection in this way and mobile number is already filled, u just need to click on 'send otp' and enter otp and submit.
Note- this will work on irctc app, not on irctc web.
