So what's this post's purpose?
To increase awareness about DND Reporting and my experience regarding it's effectiveness.
Is it really effective?
Yes, but spam will never be dead/zero (sad but reality) but it will reduce drastically also it is worth noting that it fluctuate with multiple factors (data leaks/trackers/new signup/etc).
What is my situation with spam currently?
It is somewhat satisfactory with little to no spam except indian banks, which leverage their t&c for spam calls in the name of serivce/transactional call/sms.
Why writing today?
Writing today because the latest spammer got shot by DND 3.0 (See pic).
So requesting to all, Download DND 3.0 TRAI app and do report these at large numbers. Until trai invokes new methodology to counter spam.
Thanks

but my complaint gets closed many times saying insufficient data/call record not found on device etc 40% success rate in my case
One spammer started giving just missed/very short call to tease after I reported
and unfortunately DND does not count missed call or 10Sec call as spam
Very Good and Useful Step
Whats an UTM?
UTM put under 1 month usage cap = his or her connection will be capped to 20 calls and 20 messages per day for up to 30 days till the time telecom operator investigates the matter.
If same number/utm found guilty second time, restrictions can be extended to 6 months.
TRAI DND app is really useful for me. Previously I was getting 30-40 spam calls per day now it's about 2-3calls/day
I'm doing this from last 1 year..based on my complaints..there are lot of numbers put usage cap for 1 month..
Notice issued to most of the Tele marketer Numbers.
Now I'm not getting much spam calls..
I am also reporting
Unfortunately cal blocked by truecaller and less seconds (15 or less) is not fetched/considered by this app
Nothing very significant in this penalty "UTM put under 1 month usage cap". Got this message for more than 100 cases in last two years. But not a single message about any further more stringent penalty, which means they never take any stringent action against repeat offender. That also indicates most spam calls originate from Registered telemarketers, against which they don't take any action.
But I remember, 5 years back without TRAI DND, I used to complaint with Airtel customer care thru email, at that time penalties of disconnection of mobile/landline numbers were common. I received several confirmation messages of disconnection of repeat offenders, some of them even called for apology and requested for taking back the complaint.
But now Govt has intentionally scaled down the penalty levels, as these telemarketers provide a good revenue stream to the Telecom operators.
100% agree. I am now reporting all spam calls on dnd 3 app.
