I applied for passport in 2016 and process was smooth. After 1 month a local police verification need to be done. So, as this is a small town here police don't arrive to your place rather you have go to the local police station with all your documents to get your local identification verified for a succesful Passport application. I was 21 yrs old that time.
So, I went to the police station with all documents and after 1 hour of wait submitted all documents and did multiple signatures on a form. Then I thought process is complete and now can leave for home. after 5-10 sec that officer told me to come with him out of the office premises and then suddenly asked me for Rs.1000 bribe and said if I don't pay that that verification file will not move to next steps, Also he said that money goes upto high authority like SP (IPS) so, no one can help me in that case.
After a bergen Rs.750 was the final amount what I had given to that officer as a brieb. That time I was taking math tuition and earning Rs.1000 every month, so I gave the bribe with that hard earned money
And that was a very bad day for me emotionally as I never had any idea about that kind of people do exist in the world. So, that how I faced a live corruption.
What's about you ?
Only 1000? Real loot u got there. I had to give 3500. This bribe is unavoidable. If u dont give u wont get the passport.
That's more than the passport fees itself.
I paid 500 for it. Verification took place at my home.
I paid zero in my locality, police verification at home through their tablet.
You can lodge complaint if police verification fails due to their self ego.

500 rs is considered as charity in this case .
No one asked me for money during police verification.
In India?
400 for me.
S.P( IPS)
Not I.A.S
I have given ₹2000 for passport verification, ₹5000 for license,
₹7000 for car ownership transfer
₹40k to nagar nigam for paper transfer , and without these they wont proceed. Bcz they can find silly mistakes in paper and then you have to run after them
Pan Card: 100 Rs 25 Years back
Learning License 2 Wheeler and LMV = 300 Rs 24 Years back
Regular License 2 Wheeler and LMV = 500 Rs 24 Years back
Passport: 500 Rs for making and 200 Rs for police verification 15 Years back
Everything done at home, not visited anywhere either for ration card, pan card, learning licence, regular license without any test, passport or verification of address
Contradict opinion - I don't mind giving money if my work gets done 10x faster. Some might disagree but it saves a lot of time/paperwork/energy
Happened with me in 2009, My Grandfather refused to give bribe and my father wrote an email to the authorities, after the complaint, they called us and told that our file is processed and we don't need to pay anything, they told that it's not necessary to give Chai-Pani(Bribe) if you are not comfortable 😂 and take back the complain.
Happened with also in 2003... Bribe was 200/-
When you visit police line you were asked for bribe for your work always... Not publicly.. But at sides of police line.. Mean where there is no camera's.....
Even when my brother ssc certificate lost... I have to pay bribe for verification of certificate... Always police line is a full of looters...
I applied for passport recently about a week back. The local police has not yet contacted me. How long does it usually take for police verification?
There is some big a$$ vlogger on youtube , who use to earn millions of views ... lives in TAJ / rajdhani 1st class .. 1500 rs pizza in taj / 3000 rs buffet / 75000 cruise etc .
but use to cry when some poor guys asks 20 rs (5Rs extra) for 15 rs water at railway station ... quotes rule book for MRP etc .
Being an a££ vlogger may be wrong, but asking a product at its MRP irrespective of the financial condition of both seller and buyer... Is that really wrong?
This is just a warmup. Aage bohot paise dene padenge.
Hardly shocking. Have paid bribes hundreds if times across the world.
for passport inquiry, 500 is bare minimum and standard for tier 3 cities.
1500 to CP office and 200 to local, Total = 1700
That's why ladki ka baap sarkari naukri wala ladka dhundhta hai🫠
wo licensed chor h
Living in the most unprincipled nation of the world it's funny that you thought you would never have to bribe? You need a reality check bruv.
Do we need voter id in police verification for passport ? in PV they are asking is it mandatory ,., if not how to raise complaint
It was 300 in 2009 for police verification in police station like yours, then 500 in 2014. Now it's 1000-1500 as heard from colleagues.
If you talk about law then you'll be abused verbally or physically or both.
Bribe hungry so called "public servants".
I didn't pay bribe for passport verification.
Bas itna yaad hai woh police wala ghoor raha tha mujhe. 😬😬
Tm fir twitter pey post kardogey. usko pata hey...isliye nehi liya.
Even i had applied for passport in 2016-17, i didn't pay the bribe although he seemed to be waiting for me to give it, in the meantime he was doing small talk and i told him that i am a lawyer (possible reason). Later he asked me at which court do i practice to which i replied i am a corporate lawyer.
The process was smoothly completed in due time.
Welcome to the world chitti 🤑
Same. We three friends went for police verification. After doing everything the guy asked for ₹1500 total, that is ₹500 each. When we resisted he said ‘Dhandha to dhandha hota hai’ 🤷♂️🤦♂️ We ended up paying ₹1000 in total.
