Any tips?

You are supposed to disclose it.
As long as, there is no entry in your passport, you can skip it. They do not have any interlink to check the visa rejection from other countries.
Also, Visa rejection is not a issue at all for other countries, but deportation is issue, it will be marked in Passport.

@bargainhunter me and my wife planned for Europe trip in july. After booking flights, hotels, swiss passes, etc ill have only 1L in my savings account. Im self employed with only 2 year itr with 4L income. But having credit cards with 10L credit limit. Is credit card limit accepted for applying schengen visa? Is ITR necessary to submit?

You should be more worried about queries from income tax department, nowadays they take a closer look at foreign traveling persons showing mismatched income. smile

Add some money temporarily then generate report and give for processing

1L won’t be a challenge by itself. I know folks who have got visa for 50k balance but good pedigree otherwise

Backup with additional proofs such as:
Employer letter
Mutual funds/investments statement
Any property in your name – Prop documents

Assuming you are on your own and applying with out any invitation letter from European friends/relatives.

You will only hear one word "REJECTED’’.

Before applying any visa, you must have visited most of the places in India and also neighboring countries (where visa is either not required or issued on arrival).

After that , have either employer/relative sponsorship letter OR ITR with 15L/anum and bank balance of around 2L (which is for 10 days).
