My father is recieving random calls since yesterday evening which continued during the whole night and going on till now. He has almost received 50+ calls continously on whatsapp audio/video and normal audio calls from 50 different numbers. We tried to pick few calls and almost on all the calls no one speaks up but on few of them people speak in different language.
Most these numbers are showing from UP and Assam when we checked on truecaller. I have raised a complaint with cybercrime portal today. Not sure what support I will get from them as these fraudsters are calling from new numbers everytime. Any suggestion what can we do more here?

Sim swap as in? Can they issue duplicate sim?

1. Switch to Google Dialer, go to settings & turn on blocking all unknown number calls
2. Go to whatsapp settings & silence unknown numbers

I use iphone and have silenced all the calls from phone and whatsapp from unknown callers. Enquired from Airtel customer care also if any duplicate sim request has been received on my number. Transfered all my money also into another account.

Most probably calls are not actually from the mobile numbers displayed (spoofed), but from VOIP applications generated from computers by feeding random caller IDs to avoid detection /bypass call blocking/hidng identity to commit fraud.

Why is it so difficult to silent the phone and ignore it for a few days. Important calls usually come from family or close friends, if they try and don't reach your dad's phone, they will call someone else in the same house, if the matter is important.

They want u to switch off phone so they can do sim swap fraud i read it in news very commons tactic for sim swap
What u can do is block all unknown number from dialer settings
