One or the other year, we keep having to procure gifts for kids in family or of friends on their special occassions

Trying to create a compilation of what Dimers have found to be fun & useful purchases over the last decade

Many must be evergreen ones and other new, evolving with times

Share your compilation marked with age here

Here’s mine

All Ages: UNO : Dirt cheap and for everyone, anytime : evergreen

Kids 3-13 : Mechanix : Learning focussed builder and comes in all ranges from 500-2500 : Evergreen

Will add more

Gifting expectations of the people ( all ages ) have gone beyond what is reasonable .

Don’t waste your money on procuring gifts ( which won’t be appreciated ), for people other than your immediate family members.

kids below 2 years usually try to put everything in their mouth, so avoid giving small size items like chess, etc.

+1

For a populace hooked on showing off on FB n Insta, reasonable doesn’t do anymore. Everything has to be over the top to make an impact.

Nothing is worse than wasting effort n money on unappreciated gifts.

I simply give money because don’t want that headache anymore. For kids, I give money to their parents to buy them things they need.

Exception: Poor & needy. They either spend the money on more pressing things like food or waste them on bidi/hooch.

I always buy them what they need like pair of chappals etc.

I’ve given the same 👍🏻 I prefer only book format, no digital.
Also a lots of kids books from Gita Press Gorakhpur.
Gifted a good balance of such value gifting + other toys according to the age.
Kids age 5-10: Chess board, romote toys, iron man blaster or spider man web shooter
Kids age 3-7: Doll house, ATM machine Piggy Bank, robotic toys.
I used to gift usually on birthday and Deepawali.
