GoI today allowed sugar mills to use both cane juice and B-heavy molasses to produce ethanol and capped the diversion of sugar for the purpose at 17 lakh tonnes for the ongoing 2023-24 supply year.

About 6 lakh tonne of ethanol has already been produced using cane juice before the government issued the December 7 order. The government has estimated sugar production to decline to 32.3-33 million tonnes in the 2023-24 season (October-September), as against 37.3 million tonnes in the previous season.

in my opinion ethanol quality will degrade.

already due to poor fuel quality(dealer mixing ethanol illegally at their end), engines are asking more maintenance. evaporated sugar powder can be seen on fuel caps and lids.

health bills gonna shoot up too.

dealer be doing doing all kinds of cheating in front of our eyes; so who knows what they be doing behind our backs:

manually handling the lever of fuel nozzle instead after the amount in transposed in the fuel pump, the lever should be pressed once and left untouched after inserted into the gas tank & the rest of process is automated as the nozzle stops on its own.

2nd thing the employees make sure to lift the fuel nozzle few seconds before the end when the nozzle is supposed to stop on its own. Instead employees spill fuel on gas tank and on the ground by which the customer looses fuel but the petrol pump owner makes few cents. These few cents adds up to lacs per month considering the footfall they get everyday and by scamming each customer

Hope AI & automation takes over and these phakars stop stealing our money.

Anyways since EVs are coming their days of cheating customers will come to an end soon.
