1200 workers worked day and night for the sun temple of Konark. But they could not finish the temple. Dharmapada, son of Bishu Maharana, the head worker, came to their rescue. He was playing with his father one day and he found his father to be really upset. The reason was, The ruling king Langula Narasingha Deva I was getting really impatient with the progress. He ordered if the job is not finished by morning then the 1200 workers will lose their heads. Dharmapada/Dharama heard this plight and he finished the job. On Samba Dasami, people in Odisha, celebrate by offering unique food to the sun God. If there are 3 members in the family, three unique food items will be offered to the God. My maa offers coconuts in my name, and this has to be carried upon till the rest of my life. 🙂🙂🙂
Today it’s a very hectic day. Not everyone offers simple food as coconut, some offer dalna, anna, chakuli pitha etc. And they take a lot of time to prepare. Imagine different dishes for different family members, n the family size is big?? But we all cooperate with our family n everything goes smoothly..
