Anything and everything is fine. It will definitely take you forward to a good life. But the key is self experience(awareness), without it nothing will help. For example if someone having a pain in body only he can be aware of it and once he is aware of pain he will be able to treat it.
It felt a bit surreal and it did partly help declutter life, mind.
Pranayam still does.
Similarly Sambhavi Mahamudra (also called Shambhavi Mahamudra) kriya which Isha foundation too is propagating.. by itself is a good kriya.
When BKS Iyengar was still alive and we used to go to the live sessions, he too would mention it.
Isha Foundation offers/ offered a proper off-line routine with various techniques: packaged under the 'inner engineering' branding.
It did somewhat help quite a few people.
Eventually, the 💴cha-ching💸 got too good to ignore, so they launched on-line 'cut down' preparatory versions of 'inner engineering' (which they pulled traction towards using heavy on-line advertising campaigns.)
The starter course on the internet was supposed to prep one up, but it was only in the latter physical/in-person, full-program that they would initiate one into Sambhavi Mahamudra kriya.
Then the (💴cha-ching💸) temptation got the better of them and Isha Foundation has also started offering an on-line bundle which (they claim) also includes the Shambhavi Mahamudra kriya on-line itself.
Of-course they also still have the full course off-line (in person)
and have even launched a premium version of the (in-person, off-line) course. I think it is branded as (Inner Engineering) "Retreat".
All these, be it pranayam and bhastrika (at Art of Living)
Or the mind-body sync, yog sadhna which BKS Iyengar devoted its life to
or this inner engineering packages designed, sold by Isha Foundation
do obviously help mould mental strength in some people.. but the larger dependency on the person themselves. How one takes it and is prepared for and devoted to these.
On-line stuff is suboptimal, in my personal opinion.
If time, weather and other life priorities permit, I still feel like heading to Dhamma Shringa (in Nepal) or at-least Dhamma Giri (in Igatpuri, India) for Vipassana.
(As Vipassana is so much more intense in so many ways. Also, they are a no nonsense organisation and volunteers too are strict, in that, except for medical emergencies, family life-death situations.. they just ensure that no mobiles is equal to no mobiles.
We obviously contribute funds, as per our choice, capability.. whenever we attend.)
If you know basic yoga, you can skip paying for this course.
