1. Maintain an excel sheet and record all your online/offline transactions with category of spends like travel, grocery, food, entertainment etc. Do not use any coupon or reward tricks as we want to track the real spend and not the discounted one unless some apps have some already populated ones. At the end of the month look at the pie chart of expenses and see where your money is spent. Take a judicious call - e.g., if eating out is costing more, you can stop and have only home meals.  Do this task manually (i.e., type expenses manually or make a note in pocket book) for best results as it will demand more attention on your spends.
