Just leave it. Account will become dormant /closed after 1 year of inactivity

I am also in same boat, charged 600*2 for two month no mim balance maintain.
I have 2 ac in 1 cif and as per them i need to maintain 10k in each.
Btw i have deposited 1200 and now balance is zero and tmw i will go to branch for one account closing.
If you didn’t want the account then y did you deposit 1200……?
Just put an account closure request and take receiving….. Either manager will close the account or the account will be dormant….. No need to pay these stupid penalties……
@admin My father had a salary acc with HDFC which later got converted to Savings acc with MAB charges applicable, after he left is job that is. Now, as he was not aware of MAB and other stuff related to that, we are seeing that the balance is showing -4.5K. The home branch is in another state from where we are residing right now. We went to a local HDFC branch to enquire about closure as we do not want to pay the negative balance, but they denied saying we better contact Home branch in this scenario. However, they were ready to close in case we agree to pay the negative balance. Any thoughts what shall we do in this case ?
Show them this circular and tell them to fuck off . If they still do not complain to banking ombudsman . If that fails write to RBI.

Also my friend had -20k in bal and one fine day he went to withdraw that money 
. Bank manager had pikachu face , his account was closed that day only with no charge

If you want to close the account then you need to clear the amount and close. In that case they won’t write off your balance.
Best way is to convince and write of that balance, later close the account.
Another way is just leave it and forget that account.

Assuming you had a positive balance in account earlier.
1st option, convince the branch manager to waive of the charges, your fines are waived off and you get back your positive balance.
2nd option, let the account die its own death, you loose your positive balance.
3rd option, pay the negative balance and close the account, you loose your positive balance plus pay the negative balance amount.
Tell them to waive off balance Account close Ki application do they have to close the account don’t pay anything

The branch manager has the authority to waive off such a charge. Try convincing him/her with a solid reason.
I got almost 2k waived off in my case.
