Plus laminate the original documents.

That’s what I do. Laminate the originals and keep them in a file. I also keep another file for photocopy.

Just a suggestion. You can scan and keep all those documents in Google drive and can print them whenever you need it.

Laminated documents are not accepted at some places.

Officials say a neatly crafted fake document and a original when laminated look the same, and also when original document need to be attested for any reason, one cannot attest a laminated document.

I personally had seen the above case with one of the registrar I went to, although not my documents, but the person who is in queue in-front of me.

Doesn’t lamination spoil the original paper, when at some point of time you have to remove it .
Please do guide , as i have heard something like that ,and so never laminate any document.

Attest original documents?😲 And here i thought it was needed only for xerox.
Must be a document with “barcode” on it (like the new online income domicile nationality etc) can’t think of other than this as how can you attest an original if it have a officials sign on it like DC/tehsildar. Won’t it create problems?
PS to OP:- have good quality colour prints of these originals(go to jumbo xerox centre’s they do some colour thingy to eliminate fudge) and do also keep scan copies of these to digilocker/cloud you trust. Don’t go to Dubai. .have done this to most of my documents. (Except income aadhhar DL pan. I have them in digilocker). Also do a search on amz fk for “professional file folder”

Attestation will be done on the back side of the Original documents, mostly educational documents attestation will be done by embassies, mainly middle east.

for info :

Guess I caused some confusion. The attestation I’m talking about is by officials, not self-attestation. Some educational documents need to be attested by higher officials for some purposes. I’m very rusty on this, but it’s been in practice.

I’ll tell you what happened in my case:
I kept my SSC certificate in a folder which has plastic holders. It was kept untouched for so long time that the plastic was struck to certificate as if it is laminated. To avoid any further damage, I sealed the other end and gave it a laminated look. But the official tried to remove the certificate, and the whole situation is complicated. I was left with fair warning that one should not laminate the official documents. It makes sense as they may check its authenticity by feeling the official symbols/logos.

Beware while photocopying ( xerox ) your documents.
Many shopkeepers print extra copies to sell to data collectors.
Had many times faced this issue.
On question them they deny and say print not ok but i demand the copy and make them grumble

I have never faced any such issue where any institution has denied accepting laminated documents. So I can’t say anything about it.

Why do anyone need to attested official documents? It defeats the whole purpose. Only photocopies are attested.

We laminate the document so we don’t spoil it. Why do you want to remove the lamination?

If you have such requirement then you will be better off without it.

No. They actually put your docs in a thin pouch of plastic film, then they laminate your documents. So, when need arises and you need to peel the lamination off, nothing gets damaged. 🙂
