I am actually planning on opening an acc in ujjivan bank. I don’t remember suggesting to avoid small finance banks completely but rather that don’t put all your money/majority of money/more than 5 lakh in there which you can’t afford to get stuck for even few days/week. Their site says free Rupay platinum debit card with 25k mab priority acc.
@manitian is using this acc fine for quite some time now.
Yes good decent bank with good interest rates. They are very cooperative and provides home banking also.
They also provide free rupay platinum DC with 25k MAB/10k RD/ 5 lakh FDs/ salary account
Yes, i have good exp with 2 accounts with Ujjivan as a basic account to park money. Don’t expect too much fancy UI or extraordinary services from Ujjivan.
They’re very good.
Kuch logo k pas ujjvan bank ka RuPay Platinum debit card ha bas itna pata ha. Baki account type and FD ka khud dekhlo.

I am not sure on charges. Talk to branch guy. I didnt look at charges as such. Also i didn’t find them good for Video KYC (for mother account), but i visited branch and then everything worked fine … For wife’s account.
I would suggest visit branch and meet manager, unless u really can’t

For ujjivan, prefer to open acc offline by taking pan & aadhaar card with you(I didn’t as I have a principle of not giving my aadhaar for any of my bank acc/credit card). Online open acc is 5k mab only zero balance for which the debit card will be non-rupay platinum & will be chargeable. Can’t say about being better than AU bank as no experience(also AU bank interest rate lower than ujjivan & equitas anyway) but don’t expect any great service from any small finance bank in general & use them only to get interest while keeping in mind that money might get stuck there for day/week in worst case scenario.
Correction: 5k mab acc is the min possible acc that can be opened offline by visiting branch as told by the official in ujjivan branch. Not sure about non-maintenance charges afterward.

one branch in city and same is 45 minutes away one way so looking for full online process @guest_999

I suggest to travel there as it is one time process only. Full online process might end up wasting more time than the trip if some issue occur not to mention you will get the chargeable debit card.

Don’t open online. Just call Ujjivan branch folks and ask them that you need to open bank account. They might come to your home with their tablet where your account will be opened digitally.

I don’t think u need to travel they will come to your place. Just check with them first.

Is it only for banks or any other organization like RTO, Background verification etc etc.. ?

You can open the Digital account online…You will have to pay 2000/- initial deposit which you can later take out if you want to…Unlike someone said in this thread before that it requires a 5K AMB, the Digital account is a ZERO balance account & not requires any AMB…I personally opened that account online & they will come home tomorrow for Full-KYC…You will get a Rupay Classic debit card in this account & it will cost you 100/- from 2nd year onwards…There are no extra charges for non maintenance of AMB/MAB as this is a zero balance account…Even their Regular Savings account is also a zero balance account…
You can see the charges for basic accounts here in their PDF : https://www.ujjivansfb.in/pdf/Schedule-Of-Charg...
Their app is simple & clutter free which I personally liked…Netbanking is also very simple & very easy to navigate…
You can also call their toll-free customer care number 1800 208 2121 (select the option 2 – not Ujjivan customer) & tell them that you want to open an account with them…They will ask the name/area of your branch & they will arrange a callback from your branch…They don’t seem to provide VKYC but they will come to your home for physical KYC…After opening the account online, you will be asked to select a date for the appointment for Full-KYC…You can even change that date later & reschedule it, in case you can’t be present on that day…

Anywhere it is not strictly required/mandated. Aadhaar has more acceptability only because it can’t be forged(the biometric authentication especially) so if someone has no doubts regarding your id/address proof by seeing your voter id/DL then asking for aadhaar is pointless. If someone still ask for aadhaar then basically that person is doubting your id card.

Debit card is issued automatically in case of a digitally opened acc, you can always permanently disable it later like usual to avoid paying card amc. No bank gives different interest rates to various savings acc types in their bank as far as I know. NEFT via netbanking/app has already been made free by RBI & is universally followed by all banks. RTGS/IMPS is chargeable depending on acc type as shown in that pdf.

In my case, the debit card was issued after 3-4 days of account opening…I didn’t request it but this will always be issued automatically for any bank…
You can call the customer care number I mentioned above & ask them if you can close/block your debit card & you don’t want it reissued…
Some banks don’t ship the replacement card automatically after you hotlist it & you have to place a manual request for card replacement…I don’t know if Ujjivan supports that or they will auto-ship a replacement card if you block it…You can confirm this by talking to the phone CC…
And yes, all banks provide same interest rates in all of their accounts doesn’t matter if the account is zero balance or even a 2L MAB account…So, don’t worry about that… : )
Give them a call on the toll free number & tell them that you don’t need the debit card as you use only Credit cards for all your transactions (even if you use debit cards, just say this to the bank staffs) & you don’t want to pay the debit card charges as it will remain unused then see what they reply…If they say that you can close/hotlist it & they won’t send you a replacement card until you place a request for it, then it’s all good…
I personally use debit cards very less & mostly use SimplyClick, Apay & Diners Privilege for most of my transactions so I don’t need the debit card too but since the debit card charges will be applied from 2nd year onwards, I am not in a hurry to close it now…
You can also open a Senior Citizen Savings Account with them in the name of someone of over 60 in the family where the Rupay card is LTF but that account can’t be opened online…
And about the customer care, so far I’ve experienced is that, they are very humble & polite but since I have just opened the account few days ago, I can’t say if they will continue to be good or not but hopefully they will…
Some dimers who are using Ujjivan services from quite some time, can say this better… : )

RTGS : 2Lakh – 5Lakh - Rs.25/-
Rs.5 Lakhs & above – Rs.50/-
IMPS : Up to Rs. 100,000 – Rs.5/-
Rs. 1 lac to 2 lac – Rs. 15/-
P.S. Just use UPI or NEFT to avoid transaction fees…NEFT is also faster now thanks to RBI & takes at most 1-2 hours to credit…
