Jokes aside,
Golgappa prices are rising quickly due to seller greed. They hike up prices after every long holidays in my area.
So I reside near a Techpark. And the area is Fully occupied by IT employees. I was always curious about that one roadside Pani Puri guy. So, one day I waited in a nearby place until 9 50 when he closed and I counted 520+ customers(which is 1 for every 30 seconds, I didn't even think that much people were there in that area) I missed my count in between as well. As OP said he gets 3 for 10. There it is 6 for 40 rupees. Taking arbitrarily 1 plate per person it is 20k+. That too from 6 to 10 evening. Not even the manager in the IT company earns that much.
Yes, of course there is labor , ingredients, bribees. But still his margin may lie around 500% which is a ridiculous figure.
Was it a weekday or weekend? Even if we consider 10k net profit per day, it goes to 3L per month in hand!
They are high earners in the current " just eat whatever we want" culture.
It used to be people will have some restrain, mostly they didn't want to spend money frivolously. This used to be a once in a while treat. But nowadays whenever they go out, guys will eat these foods everyday.
Health was considered as well. Eating street foods often was frowned upon before. Nowadays parents themselves take their children out everyday to eat street snacks.
A guy who sells cauliflower pakodas only from 5.30 to 7pm, apparently just bought a house that's worth 45-50lacs. Good for him! I only say this because these guys are looked down as mere street vendors by a lot of people, but in reality they are making a killing with low investment and working fewer hours a day than an IT employee.
No 10rs option in Bangalore. 7+1 for 20rs in few places else its minimum 30rs
