There are a few things you can try, I assume that you don't have an pre-approved credit limit offer. So you'll need the following details which you'll have to send to sbicard.com/email and they most definitely will increase your limit:

  • Salaried - Last 3 months salary slips and bank statement
  • Self Employed - Latest Income Tax (IT) Return and 3 months bank statement

However, you can also call the customer care and tell them that you want to close the card, be a bit adamant but not rude, tell them that you're unhappy with the current Credit Limit, they will most probably increase your limit without any income documentation.

Open SBI Card app and select "EMI & More" on the bottom banner. If you have a pre-approved limit increase offer, it'll pop up on that page. Else email [email protected] with your latest salary slip/ITR and hopefully they'll increase the limit accordingly.

Just one doubt, is there any compulsory mandate like once in 6 months they will give pre approved offer for limit increase?

    1. Check emi&more section for pre approved offers

    2. Under service request-card closure -reason low credit limit. It will show any limit enhancement offers available

    3. In sbicards net banking choose limit increase and input your salary. It will show how much the limit enhancement is available. Upload last 3 months payslip/ITR

    4. If nothing works apply for another SBI card after approval transfer the maximum limit to your current card and close the low limit card.

I would like to warn everyone here regarding pretending to close the credit card just to get some better offers. I recently had a very bad experience.
I went to the app and choose the card closure option to see if they offer any relevant offer on May 17. I wasn't even going to submit the request and then hoping to receive a call before them actually blocking it..it was too much of a risk. There weren't any relevant offers, but the option to change the billing cycle was there and since I've been wanting to do that, I chose that, and it told me that the request will be processed in 3 working days.
Fast forward to May 25 and I received two different SMS at 5:50 in the evening, one saying that my credit card is deactivated while the next one saying that the request to deactivate couldn't be processed. When I called the helpline to confirm, they said that it was I who called them at 5:49 and requested to deactivate it. 😂So even when I choose the available offer and the request was terminated, they still blocked it without my consent. They could've called me to confirm, but naah. I've left them an email and I'm sure that they won't compensate for their mistake easily. Thankfully, it was SimplyClick with a limit of 37k, and I just received SimplySave too, I'm not too much worried since I'm covered for the online offers. Had I tried this with my Cashback CC, I would've been devastated 😭

Bro, for me LE happened 4 months after taking an EMI. I think that the method you recommended will work for CCs older than 6 months.

If it is Cashback card, they won't increase the limit that easily..... Using it since 2.5 years with 10k limit. Simply click has a limit of 170k. They are neither increasing the limit even after giving salary slips nor allowing me to share the limit of SimplyClick. Hoping SBI comes to the senses one fine day.
