My brother recently took a new connection from Airtel apparently this is an used number that has more than 1000 fraud reports in Truecaller. Anyone know how to clean Truecaller reports?

Change number ASAP. Someday someone might come looking for revenge!

Ok he surrendered the number and applied for disconnection. Airtel should really give a paid option to choose the number like vi or jio so an user can check trai's website for recently allocated MSC codes and choose accordingly to prevent this from happening

or, while taking a new number, user can also search for that number on truecaller before providing documents. If using Samsung dialer with Hiya, then just give a call to that new number and dialer will tell if number is already in suspected spam list or not. Neither Airtel store nor individual recharge stores from where user can buy sim card will say no to showing the number beforehand.

Better to surrender and ask for a new number. Truecaller in any case will not take any action as all spam/fraud reports are automatic and from registered customers, no manual interface.

Vi has free premium number. Take it and port to Airtel after 3 months.

They do give.
Have done it often for postpaid, in off-line store.

Airtel earlier used to offer numbers available with them for new connections through their agents. You can directly request them to allocate a new number only after verifying that it has no adverse reports on Truecaller. Paid option is for special numbers only
