HP Gas agencies forcing to buy accessories to get connection

Faced the same issue, when relocated to another place after 1st lockdown in 2020. But I’s too adamant to abide by them. Then they said atleast you’ve to show the bill of ISI-marked Stove in your name. That I had, so did. Hence, avoided the hassle.

But, yes I do believe that filling the online form might help. Even the agency must have some board where it’s written that the purchase of any other item from the agency with new connection is not mandatory.

You’ll get connection within a week without any extra charge / buying any accessory.

Did it say on your bill that the stove is ISI marked?

Did you get a breakdown of the total amount paid (like how much is security deposit, how much for the cylinder, etc.)?

and don’t pay by cash.

Only pay online to HP website.

They’ll insist you to pay by cash as that will expediate the process etc. etc. that’s all fake.

Google search tells me that to avoid paying for accessories, I need to have a bill of a ISI marked stove. If you have such a bill, even then you need pay more. They will send a technician who will verify that the stove is ISI marked and the tube + regulator are in proper safe working condition, and you will be charged for the technicians visit. No, the bill itself doesn’t show ISI-marked. But the Stove was purchased from another HP Gas Agency in another city. The brand was Greenchef, which was being sold by the new agency too. It’s an IS-4246 product. Hence, they couldn’t object to it, as I was well-researched everything about the new connection rule at that time. I think I could have refused to oblige with the BILL condition too.

talk to direct manager and say. i already have trolley lighter dnt need. else i will go to other agency.  earlier i did the same. 

Biggest hub of corruption. Majority paying these extra charges. Politician, babus take hepty cash to issue gas agency.

Fortunately I could find 1 genuine agency in my city who gave me connection without accessories…

Faced similar thing back in 2016, I gave up than going through complaints etc. I went with Indane. I don’t see any difference since I live in metro.

Do not go with their accessories unless you are fan of them or sure of the quality standards.

And I just remembered that I took the connection in a near by town from my village and transferred the connection to the metro. Because it is near by town, there may not be much accesory forcing

It doesn’t work that way at least at my place. Every agency has its designated area where he provides service i.e. delivers cylinders. I had tried other nearby agencies and the first thing all of them told me was they do not serve my address and I should contact this one and only agency. It’s like mafia having thier pre decided areas.

Nope, no charges absolutely. You may also check that part to be double sure. Instead of asking in person, dial their agency and talk as a query what do they need for transfer
