I got scammed. Need help

I have bought many times from a street vendor in person over 2-4 years. The products have always been good and I have never been ripped off.
A few months ago, I contacted him and he said that he would send things via courier as shops are closed due to lockdown. He asked to me send an advance of 50% and rest on delivery. So I used GPay to send him ₹1000.
After that, he closed his mobile number. I had another number (which I think he did not expect) and I called him on it. He didn’t pick up, so I sent him a WhatsApp message that I would complain if he doesn’t reply. And surprise, he called me immediately.
Then he started demanding me to pay the full amount before delivery, I said no. He isn’t replying to my messages now.
I know this is 99.9% a scam. I would like to know what can I do to get my money back?

Exactly, that’s the problem. It’s not big amount for going to police.
I need some other online complaint way or unconventional ways
I am also thinking the same.
If he is a street vendor then I think he will be coming to street to sell in coming days. For this much amount he won’t be changing his place of work. BTW what he sells and where?

He might have gone back to his native place as Covid lockdown fear is again looming large. Might be in need of money now

I am guessing that u must hv ordered a khadya padhart aka food item or u must hv some business that requires the use of that thing frequently

I would say consider it as lesson learned and move on..
@tvirus report this case to Karl a famous YouTuber who is a Scam Detector, he will feature this con man scammer on his Channel by doing up and down inquiry.
Karl Rock is very courageous and brave man, he bust many scams.

Since street vendor hai to do like… Kisi se baat krvao and impersonate like ki police station sr call kr rhe hai and the person complained and usne trn b dikhai and pgone recordings b ki u were asking whole money… Itne se darr jaana chahiye usko
