ICICI Coral CC to MMT Platinum

My friend tried to apply for ICICI MMT Platinum credit card fresh application, but due to some technical issues his salary account could not be fetched by account aggregators during CC application process.
The next day an agent from ICICI CC dept. called him and completed the application manually. But he smartly applied a paid Coral CC instead of the MMT Platinum (almost LTF) he wished to apply.
Now chances are the card will be approved, as his cibil and salary slips are good, bit he wants that MMT Platinum card. Can he convert the Coral CC to MMT Platinum after he gets the card delivered ?

Take to customer care , they can close and apply for mmt.

I think customer care will upgrade to mmt ptnm
