ICICI Minor Account - debit card, SMS

I got ICICI Young Stars Account opened for my kid which got activated just today. It is not linked to my user ID yet, so no net banking access as of now. Hopefully, it would be done tomorrow.
- While I asked them to uncheck the debit card option while applying to avoid charges, today I discovered that the card is actually free with no annual charges. Does anyone know if there would be any issuance charges if I apply through net banking?
- I see that SMS is charged at 15p/SMS for that account variant. Would this be NIL if I get it linked as a family account? My account is a Silver tier with no SMS charges.

Thanks, @DEALSTER . Yes, we have a girl and I opened an SSY account soon after her birth. That is with SBI and shows up under my account as PPF.
Great, mine is with ICIC. I cant handle SBI 😛Their home loan process and subsequent fight for rate correction involving RBI itself left me half dead.
BTW what AMB ICICI gave you? I was forced to maintain 50K, which is high but alright.
Looks like ICICI is the new SBI. Just called up customer care in order to apply for a new debit card and was told that they can only take reissue requests and not new card requests. Will have to visit a branch now.
Hi since this discussion is going on. I opened ICICI young star account recently but the account is not in the name of my kid & shows my name when i check on the app. This is in addition to my existing savings account & now it shows two savings accounts in my name. Have they made a mistake? Shouldn't the account be in my kid's name? I have not received the welcome kit yet as it's yet to be delivered by the courier so waiting to see whose name will be there on the debit card.
Can someone please guide me on this.
At least in my case, the kid's name is showing in net banking. Under Bank Accounts > Accounts, two accounts are shown with hers as <Name> (Minor).
Can we open minor account in icici without parent account in bank.
I spoke with the bank. They are saying imobile app will show my name and not my kid's name as I am operating the account. The debit card and cheque will bear kid's name. I am yet to receive the welcome kit. Can you confirm if your imobile app shows your kids name as account holder and not your name please?

For my young star account i am not being charged for the card. I even got the regular card replaced with rupay, free of cost. Mine is salary, wealth account. The minor account is linked to mine and i havent seen any sms charges. I have been using the card for amazon rupay offer since i got it.
PS - If you have a girl it would be a good idea to get a SSY account linked as well.
