If I don't activate my SBI debit card, will the SBI Bank still deduct annual charges?

Hi everyone.
Last week I opened a savings account in SBI, mainly because I wanted to create a PPF account in a Government owned bank.
I know we can open a PPF account without opening savings account but the branch wasn't allowing that, so had to open savings account with them.
I insisted on having SBI rupay platinum debit card because of the rupay Amazon offer and even provided the product code of the SBI platinum debit card to them but they said they'll only provide a normal SBI debit card. I then asked them not to issue the debit card itself and.. you guessed it right they again denied it.
In the end, I had to open savings account with normal debit card. I will only use this account for funding my ppf account, so don't really have a use of debit card. So, This is a useless card for me so I was wondering if I do not activate it, will SBI still deduct its annual charges? What if I block the card? In that case will SBI deduct annual charges, annually?

I am already doing this got the card but haven't activated it yet as don't need it. No AMC or issuance charge is deducted yet it's been 4-5 months since I opened the account and 3-4 months since I got the card.
Only the time will tell if they are gonna deduct anthing.

Manually apply for SBI RuPay Platinum debit card from SBI branch, after acc opening.
They will send you default card when acc opening. Dnt activate the card.

Give debit card close request in branch.

Update: I never activated my debit card but the charges were deducted today. Weirdly, In the net banking it was showing my card was somehow active. I have blocked the card now. Next update after a year now lol

IF YOU BLOCK THE CARD, THEN ISSUANCE CHARGES WILL BE DEDUCTED AND NO AMC CHARGES WILL BE DEDUCT.
IF YOU DO NOT ACTIVATE IT THEN ALSO THEY WILL CHARGE ISSUANCE FEES BUT DONT THINK THEY WILL CHAGE THE AMC FEES
