Important update regarding the AePS (Aadhar enabled Payment Services) linked to your account.

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance security & adhering to the regulatory requirements, we have disabled AePS Service for your account with effect from 25th May 2024, due to inactivity i.e. no AePS debit transactions for the preceding 12 months.

what exactly is aeps? will it affect other banking services like net banking etc.?

AEPS Aadhaar Enabled Payment System

This is/was used in few places like micro ATM to withdraw or transfer money.

Although I personally never used or saw anyone using it. It was there.

I think there were few frauds reported, so If I am not wrong RBI made changes and asked Banks to disable it by default and user can 'opt in' if required. As you are well versed with Technology and using DD, I would suggest u to let it be disabled.

Mostly used by scammers to steal money, all banks should disable this by default.

AePS allows us to pay through our Aadhar Number and Fingerprints at the merchant premises.
Disabling the AePS doesn't affect anything.

Indian bank disabled everyone's AEPS back in feb-mar when AEPS fraud was at peak and some media questions why AEPS by default is ON

I think hmm better dont link Aadhaar to banks easily xD till date i haven't used my aadhaar in any of my bank accounts, but I have used in credit accounts but not in bank accounts
