Cred is an initiative of Kunal Shah, founder of FreeCharge. The app aims to make paying credit card bills simpler and reward you for paying them on time. The app asks for your phone number to check your credit score with Cibil, CRIF and Experian.

If your credit score is 750 or higher, you are granted access to the app, else you join a waitlist. The app scans any credit cards linked to your phone number and adds them to the app. To manage the cards, Cred requires access to your email account (this is not mandatory).
CRED is a members-only app with exclusive rewards for every credit card bill payment. CRED’s credit card spend tracking and management features provide simple, yet powerful tools for its members to manage their credit card more efficiently.
In addition to curating exclusive rewards from top brands for it’s members, CRED members get access to CRED PROTECT – an AI backed system that keeps track of every single nuance of a credit card payment journey – right from due date reminders, spend patterns and other card usage statistics.

How to apply for CRED membership?

CRED is only for a select few – You can apply for a membership by signing up with your full name and mobile number on the app. If your credit score is above our eligibility score, you will be accepted as a member of CRED and will have access to a curated set of exclusive rewards and privileges that are members-only.

P.S: You will need a valid Indian phone number to enroll as a member of CRED

Cred uses this access to scan credit card statements for hidden charges. Every time you make a payment to your credit card, you earn Cred Coins – each coin is equal to Rs 1. These coins can then be used to claim rewards from vendors like Ixigo and FreshMenu, among others.
You can also use the option to ‘burn’ your coins to win cashback, which is directly credited to your credit card. The only thing we found missing was a reminder function for payment due dates (but that should be added soon). Give Cred a chance — it looks promising
