Hi Diners , previously online shopping was very safe and easy with easy returns/refund.

But nowadays it's very difficult on every website for return considering they will block your account.

They send wrong product and would not accept return.

They send fake product taking the cost of branded once.

I thing soon India will shift towards the old trand of local shop.

What's your thought and ideas about it

for home appliances like TV/AC, best is offline during the traditional holiday time like Diwali/NewYear etc as first you can get it replaced with the dealer/shop itself in case of any product issue during unboxing/installation and some have better service center contacts of respective brands so can provide better support until the warranty period plus I find prices are almost on par or even few hundreds less than online..

so far mobiles we are the major sales-driving force for Amazon/FK but with FK (and soon Amazon) open box delivery where if you find any issue like mic not working after a day also, you are on your own and need to go to service centre, this feature sucks if you are planning to gift someone or away from home for few days etc so eventually it will also go offline route only and already I guess most brands have their outlets now plus Reliance Digital/Croma etc can boost up offline sales

My observations:

  • Reliance, Croma etc will inform you the lowest price on a particular article if you put a request with them.
  • Any item that is open/unsealed in offline store will mostly end up in online sales.
  • Offline and online are two different streams. Online product will be often of subpar quality compared to offline. Model numbers/series also differ.
  • Few sellers are dumping products with issues online.
  • Any measure taken by online platforms are purely to tackle the mentality of Indian consumers.
  • Platforms are lenient towards the frauds committed by the seller as of now.

If u ordered many products from Amazon they will easily accept return. But not the case of Flipkart. Haven't ordered anything other than these 2. (Electronic from Flipkart and others from Amazon might be a good choice)

I think soon India will shift towards the old trand of local shop.

This is not going to happen at all. Humans are getting worse day by day, if humans can become worse then why not online shopping.

Until lazy people will exist here on this planet, e-commerce is not going away.

But what if you get it very costly likewise as same happened to ola and Uber when they increased prices people again moved to old trand.

I am not considered 10% high class and showoff  people . Just considering middle class common family man 🤣

Haven't received fake items yet. I check the seller before ordering.

But yes, they are sending refurbished items which is against the policy. We are paying for fresh/brand new items and they are cheekily se sending returned items many a time nowadays!!

Sometimes I prefer to buy items offline because it is good to buy at almost the same price, and sometimes offline sellers match the online price.

Offline product models, mostly electronic fridge/washing machines, are slightly different from online models.
The offline seller says that online models are intentionally manufactured with low-weight items.

Visiting offline shops to know the current market price is very difficult.

Offline deals were posted on some websites a few years ago. Is there anyone who knows that site?

Myntra has gone worse. My manager ordered 18 tshirts as gifts for all the department as bihu gifts and only send 2 pieces. The rest were stolen or never dispatched. The particular driver to that route was also behaving rudely and suspiciously.

After 3 days investigation, we managed to get refund for 10 tshirts only and when we asked for the remaining missing 6 tshirts, they deactivated our manager's account 😑

He placed order on Amazon. Correctly received all.

No business last for fraud

-indian businessmen in majority when leaving big names (and even big name like Chortel ) are basically small heart ,shameless who care only about profit , thats why foreign intervention with international quality surfaced (thats was the diff between ola and uber ; amazon and flipkart)

-then govt saw this and party funding pushed them to give laws for limit of FDI

- international corp knew this and how to deal this with there global exp.

-so sooner or later people will opt for foreign mnc product just for seek of quality (Apple vs micromax) , foregin MNC/AI /card offer will make sure of this , even the consumer of village ignored by indian corporate will boycott them in favour of intenrnatioanl standard

for food, now a days online ordering becoming headache. Recently, zomato delivery partner cheated me by replacing the ordered item with a cheap alternative while enroute. Swiggy platform restaurant sent the inferior item altogether in place of ordered costly item and on one occasion sent the semi cooked food too. The loss incurred is overall 1000/- to 1500/- only but I lost the confidence in them to place any costly or bulk orders after these frauds.

For me, 90% of things are purchased online (Yes, even my AC, TV, Washing Machine, my whole PC, All Mobiles, Console, Games, and many more things).

The thing is, people go around cheap things and do not do any type of research or review of sellers or products they are purchasing.

It requires basic common sense before clicking "Add to Cart" but no, we are so busy!  If people read and think before doing anything, 99% of scams or issues would resolve themselves.

Definitely, Think before Act is what everyone should do. But it's not that easy - even after spending so much time and doing too much research. Because of Paid Reviews and Manipulative marketing thru comments, deals etc etc.
