I have personally used PhonePe only once or twice 4 years back. Never liked it. No offers. Installed couple of times again but never did any transaction. Surprised when I see the news of the number of transactions it process, market share and the valuation.
Just thought of asking - is it such a popular app. Are many of you using it.

I have not installed Phonepe app & don't remember when I last time used phonepe for UPI. Phonepe has established well due too much advertising & marketing both online & offline. I use Amazon or paytm only.

Phonepe has far better upi implementation than gpay/paytm etc.
If txn took more than a minute its failed. Paytm is laggy , gpay is worthless , no clear UI , takes lot of time etc

It's all about what app provided stable service before anyone else. While google pay was never stable, Paytm made their app confusing and heavy.
Also, people tend to use only one app for all transactions so that all payment history remains in one app and searching for records becomes easy.

I like phonepe over any other upi app most pathetic app is BHIM, AND gpay is slowpay indeed, paytm is not much convenient too much items in their dashboard
