Is the Jio 5G unlimited offer still valid?

Dear dimers,

I have been using Jio fiber for a few years and moving to a tier 3 city where no Jio/Airtel fiber is available.

But Jio/Airtel 5G is available, I have checked that the Jio Air Fibre is also available here but the same speed with limited data is costly in comparison to fibre.

I heard a few days back people were talking about the Unlimited Jio 5G plan, How is it compared to fibre for regular connection?

If it's good, Is the offer still available? and how to get it?

Thanks!

I'm using this 5g on iqoo z6 lite 5g phone and giving hotspot to my tv 2-3 phones. I'm main phone I'm getting 250 ish Mbps. In other hotspotted devices 35 ish Mbps.

Recharge 239 rs every 28 days. Lower recharge than that doesn't give free 5g .been using since 6-7 months.💓

@Chiggy_Wiggy_Buoy there would not be any pro-rata refund, in case a Jio satellite internet customer does not want to continue after some time, for ANY reason.
This if moving to a new location and even fractional chance of having to shift in under six months, Jio Air might not be feasible.

Also, they charge it as a billing plan (postpaid connection), even though all the money is taken upfront, hence there is GST too.

For now, the average person outside of Reliance has no clarity as to the timeframe till when the network trials will continue.
Jio claims that they would continue to offer this 'unlimited free 5G' offer till their network is properly on-line EVERYWHERE in the country.

Having said that, most people feel that the offer might continue till after the monsoon at-least.
Previously there have been events like August 15, Deepawali when brands have shuffled offers.

As @demon_slayer and others already mentioned, the e-SIM or the physical SIM registration on the 5G network is all it takes for the s6stem to unlock the offer for the subscriber.
Otherwise reaching out to them will help.

As on date (March 11, 2024), for the smartphone packs, the lowest plan/pack eligible for the 'unlimited true 5G' offer... is the ₹239 pack (which has 28 days outgoing validity).

The satellite internet speeds are okay okay.(as compared to what we pay).

GSM speeds are dependent on too many factors, hence no generic answer for the 5G speeds.

Still available. No need to do anything just put your sim in a 5g phone, you will receive the offer or get activated automatically. You can see it in the app.

I don't see much difference between the 4g and 5g. Maybe others get better speed.

I haven't used the Jio for a long period, So no plan is active.

What minimum plan do I need to opt for?

Also, Do you know till when this plan will be active and what's the speed?

Thanks for the detailed info brother.

I need it to use with my office vpn. Currently I am on a 30 Mbps plan. I really hope 5G will give at least this speed.

Yes, This is very different. If the device is postpaid what is the point for collecting amounts for the whole 6/12 months with no refund on pro rata.

I still have 2-3 months left on my Jio fiber plan, Dont know if they have a policy to refund it.

That 6GB for 84 days, Right?

Have you tested speed? How is it in comparison to 30 Mbps fiber?

I have activated Jio 5G unlimited through Sim after many positive feedbacks.

But facing a huge problem: Speed is good in morning till 11, After that it keeps decreasing and by 8pm its 1 Mbps.

Starting from 30 Mbps -> 1 Mbps If I go to the terrace it is 90-100 Mbps till 2 pn after that in the evening it is 2 Mbps.

Tried everything possible, Contacted CC/Twitter but they don't care.

@Demon_slayer @Venom14 Is it possible to force it to only use 5G?

My network automatically changed to 4G at times and then I have to turn on and off airplane mode to bring back to 5G. Is there a permanent option to disable 4G switching.

In settings I see 2 options - 3G/4G and 3G/4G/5G. I have selected second one. I also tried changing network selection mode from Automatic to Manual and Selected Jio 5G. I also disabled smart feature of auto switching to save battery. But none of these stop this switching.

Depending on the bands available in the device and depending on whether the native OS allows certain tweaks..some devices might allow such forcing in the native OS or after jailbreaking them.

Check relevant posts of @guest_999 @limbo or others, in this regards.
