Gives the saying ‘he only had an 8th grade education’ a whole new meaning, doesn’t it?!

Also shows you how poor our education system has become and, NO, I don’t have the answers!

The recent news of colleges under Delhi University setting a cut-off of 99 per cent and above marks has shocked educationists, scholars, teachers, commentators all over the country.

Not only is such a high marks preposterous but also it defies logic and in general the real worth of those who score such a high percentage.

Are these students really that good to achieve such marks or is it the system which is churning out students capable of scoring high marks and yet are bogged down when it comes to innovation and cutting-edge research?

Are we ‘manufacturing’ drones instead of learned, wise men?

Should there be an alternative to the present marks-based system?

Also in spite of boasting students endowed with high-intellect and IQ why are Indian Universities lagging far behind their US and European counterparts?

What is the solution?

Is private participation and relaxation of rules and regulations the way out?

What do those students do who fail to score high marks?

A Kindergarten teacher was helping one of her students put his boots on. He had asked for help and she could see why. With her pulling and him pushing, the boots still didn’t want to go on.

When the second boot was on, she was nearly out of breath.

She almost whimpered when the little boy said, “Teacher, they’re on the wrong feet.”

She looked and sure enough, they were. It wasn’t any easier pulling the boots off than it was putting them on. She managed to keep her cool as they worked together to get the boots back on – this time on the right feet.

He then announced, “These aren’t my boots.”

She bit her tongue rather than scream, “Why didn’t you say so earlier?” like she wanted to. Once again she struggled to help him pull the ill-fitting boots off.
He then said, “They’re my brother’s boots. My Mom made me wear them.”

She didn’t know if she should laugh or cry. She mustered up the grace to wrestle the boots on his feet again. She said, Now, where are your gloves?”

He said, “I stuffed them in the toes of my boots…”

Self sustaining oppression

Imagine how an elephant is suppressed and trained to obey. After its capture it will be tortured systematically, till its entire spirit of self assertion dies. It becomes the obedient slave. In fact some of them will be trained as Kumkhis, elephants that fight those that are wild.

Systematic torture kills the spirit and then brain washes the oppressed into the champions of oppression.

Now a days teachers are not allowed to say or write anything negative… A few interesting letters from teachers to get around this…….

Dear Parent,
We are delighted to inform you that your child displays remarkable initiative. Not for him the simple-minded obedience to teachers. We refer to his admirable refusal to do homework. We have, however, humbly requested him to stoop to our level and condescend to do his homework. Your support is appreciated.
Yours anxiously,
Teacher

Dear Parent,
Your child’s distaste for mundane subjects such as mathematics shows an imaginative mind. Why, he wonders, does the square of the hypotenuse have to be equal to the square of the other two sides in a right-angled triangle? It is no wonder that he has scored a splendid zero in his math exam. Unfortunately, even brilliant students have to pass exams. Could you gently break that news to him?
Yours entreatingly,
Teacher

Dear Parent,
We are pleased your child has one of the same qualities that Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, possessed. Like him, your son believes that history is bunk. But it may be best to disabuse him of the notion that the Mughal emperors were Amar, Akbar and Anthony.
Yours beseechingly,
Teacher

Dear Parent,
Your child submitted a blank paper for last week’s science test, influenced perhaps by Albert Camus who said ‘Whether the earth or the sun revolves around the other is a matter of profound indifference’. Your son shares that profound indifference, undoubtedly for philosophical reasons. But could you inform him that in order to study philosophy, he has to pass class eight first?
Yours plaintively,
Teacher

Dear Parent,
Your son has obviously read Friedrich Nietzsche’s Beyond Good and Evil, which is why he was copying from the boy next to him during yesterday’s test. Like Nietzsche, he believes that Supermen like him have little use for conventional notions of morality. The teacher who caught him copying is a conventional type who gave him a zero.
Yours desperately,
Teacher

Dear Parent,
We are impressed by your child’s knowledge of martial arts. In the past month, he has broken two legs, four arms and three noses. He also shows prudence while fighting, taking care to pick on weaker boys. For some reason, however, the fathers of the boys who were beaten up are planning to go to your home with hockey sticks.
Yours wretchedly,
Teacher
