So, a few days ago I came across this article stating that -

  • Samsung India is now offering a one-time free screen replacement for smartphones affected by the green screen issue. The devices covered by the new program include the entire Galaxy S20 series, the S21 series (excluding the FE model), S22 Ultra, Note 20, and Note 20 Ultra.
  • Owners of these devices have until April 30 to book an appointment with Samsung India Service Center to get their complementary screen replacement.
  • Eligible smartphones need to be within 3 years of purchase and will be repaired at no cost even if their warranty has expired.

A family member with an S22 Ultra developed a white line to the right of the camera punchole and a yellow tint on the right half of the screen after it became overheated from an extensive photography session. Turning on power saving or switching off Adaptive display (120 Hz) almost solves the problem but a good eye can still see the discolouration. Plus unless AOD is ON the white line flashes during phone unlock. It anyway does that during a restart.

This thread and the image shows the exact issue I had -

I went to the Samsung Service Center yesterday, explained the issue and mentioned the free display replacement from Samsung. They admitted that Samsung was indeed replacing the displays but only after diagnostics and on a case by case basis (obviously because people will go with shattered displays or phones that clearly have physical damage). They ran diagnostics, asked me to submit the phone and that they will replace the display at Rs 500 (Rs 501.5 to be precise) if they get approval. They called me this morning to say that they had got the approval and they managed to replace the display in an hour. I shall be collecting it by the evening. They are also throwing in a complimentary battery replacement with it.

Today is the last day; so if anyone else has a similar issue please try and make use of this offer.

I personally have a 4-yr old S20 with a display that often goes almost all yellowish-greenish-white making the phone totally unusable. The screen becomes normal after a few seconds or minutes. The screen has also had flicker from at least 6 months ago. That phone is ineligible because it was bought 4 years ago.

Wait, so the period was just from 22nd April to 30th April? So short?

Anyway, thanks for reminding. OnePlus also offered free screen replacement I think for many models.

Yes. I agree. The period was too short. May be they'll see how many have availed of the offer and extend it or relaunch it.
