Two things- if it is within 3 days of your due date, you have grace period and will be waived off.

If it is for the first time, you can always request, they will reduce the quantum of penal interest, if not the full amount. Happened to me last year, it was a new card and did not realize due date. Got the call from Axis, paid the dues almost after a week but surprisingly they did not charge me anything and even my CIBIL was not affected.

  • Response from AXIS is :-

  • Please be informed that kindly do payment 03 days before the due date to avoid any extra financial charges.
  • Hence, the charges are genuine it can not reversed.

Reply to them that you want to cancel the card as it is turning to be very costly for you. If lucky, they will give some amount in the form of reward points. Worked for me in HDFC case.

@japeshsingla how late were you?

Do update if you decide to close card or how you get reversal (after you get it).

I did miss last payment... This may be my first miss since I started using cc from 2005. The reason being this is new ace card taken in my wife name and completely forgot about it.  Anyways 7th March was last date, and I paid on 10th. So this is with in 3 day buffer, late fee 500+gst automatically refunded the moment I made the payment.
