Medical or Term Insurance Doubt

Hi Team,

I am 36 Male working in IT with 6+ Digit Salary. in 2021 i got diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and they removed it completely. I am having a complete normal life taking a single tablet every morning for thyroid.

Note: Even though Thryoid Cancer is dangerous as it sounds its the easiest way to get a cancer as its not life threatening. We can survive without Thyroid by taking alternative medicine.

Now the doubt is

Medical Insurance:

1. Will they give Medical insurance to me. or they will reject with my full body checkup saying its life threatening?

2. Any company give without full body checkup? if they do will they reject my claim in future saying its pre existing condition?

3. Can i put medical insurance for my wife and can i add myself as dependent?

4. Can i put medical insurance for my family without including me even though my wife is housewife?

Term Insurance:

1. Will they give term insurance to me. or they will reject with my full body checkup?

2. Any company give without full body checkup? if they do will they reject my claim in future saying its pre existing condition?

Kindly tag the experts and i really wish to get a professional opinion.

1. I'm a senior insurance advisor. I will tell some insider information. We have a list what is called "Straight Decline". Cancer is one among them. But as you are saying you are doing fit and fine. We can try. But go through an advisor who really can help you. I'm not confident you will get it but I recently got an insurance approved for someone who had 3 surgeries in last 4 years without loading. Sometimes things do go in our favour. There are cancer specific plans available for cancer patients. Stage 4 is very likely a rejection. From your post I get a feel yours is not Stage 4.

2. Yes. But even with health check up, they don't test for cancers. I'm sure you know that Petct is needed for Cancer screening. And it costs close to 28k in a city. So companies can't afford that. You have to disclose pre-existing condition with or without health checkup

3. No such concept

4. Yes. Please DM me once. I want to give an advice that can't be said publicly.

Thanks @kukdookoo

My Advice, dont take any insurance which offers a cover without full check up. They will reject a claim after eating up all the premium. Discloses everything and and take a cover. You will get a cover with higher premium.

You can take a health/life cover for your family irrespective of their work. The maximum assured amount might differ based on the earning though. Try acko for health to get a quote and idea. They are quick and helpful. Even if you do not choose them you will get to know the process.

I will reiterate again, disclose everything even if it means a higher premium.

Health checkup is not in your hands. Customers can't demand it. Almost all the companies I know won't do health check even at the age of 60 unless there is a pre existing condition. Even if there is a pre existing condition, only existing reports will be asked for, not the health check up. Acko and Godigit insist on health checkups as they prefer healthy customers and don't want to take risk.

Most probably term insurance will be rejected after disclosing your condition but you can try.

You can get health insurance with higher premium.

Kindly disclose everything while taking the insurance otherwise they will reject everything while taking claim

Term Insurance:

1. Read about health check in my early reply. We can try depending on how many years back you were treated and how long you have been clean. Your salary is of no significance for life or health. Again some insider info. We have a range for salaried and non earning too.

2. Read my earlier answer.

I answered based on my exp as a senior insurance advisor.

BTW, people who are reading this. If any of your family members have cancer, get genetic testing done from laboratory like Medgenome. They cost around 9-19k. Cancers are hereditary. Even if you or your spouse's family members have cancer, you can get genetic testing done when your wife is still pregnant. If the baby has inherited genes, you can plan for abortion. There is no point in spreading cancer to the next generation. Meet a Gyanaec Oncology in a big hosp in Tier 1 city even before planning pregnancy or best before marriage or worse at least after pregnancy is confirmed.
