It's for Pradhan Mantri Atal Pension Yojana. After you get 60 years old, 1000 p/m will be credited to your account. You can always opt out of this scheme.

Better to opt for 5000 rs option. But now APY not available for all. EARLIER EVERYBODY ENROLLED.

Normal NPS is better than APY
Note: NPS is s combination of 3 mutual funds, 1 equity based & 2 debt based. And the expense ratio of NPS is very less as compared to any regular mutual fund.

not worthy,
for such long duration, invest in MF, you will be sitting in such hugh corpus on retirement that the FD interest of that corpus will be greater than the pension of this scheme
