Hi dimers,I recently moved to a location in gurgaon with family but after checking the broadband availability there..Neither airtel nor jio giving broadband service there.I searched for local provider..Sky broadband is asking for  1500 rs router fees+1500 rs security and their plan is 500+tax for 10 mbps and 1000+tax for ..50mbps.They seems to be costly.Can someone please tell me why they are charging so high . Even Airtel provides 100 mbps in 799 rs only..please suggest some alternative if possible..

Is it unlimited plan? Will it be ADSL router that they will sell you? Can’t you buy router on your own?

Charging high because of no competition. Even Airtel and Jio charged high rates when no competitor was available in specific areas

Dimers,I have an update on this.. Visited bsnl office today,they are ready to install broadband at my location..They are demanding 2500 router charges+750 installation charges(3250+gst) at the time of application…And further,i have to pay one month advance rental as security in first month bill…Are these charges ok?

That is way cheaper than what they quoted me. Get on it asap. They asked almost 6k from me.

What is your average data requirements? How good is Jio mobile at that location? For normal user, taking a Jio SIM and using it with TPLink MR600 can work out cheaper. Initial cost of router will be high though.

@panchabhut
Mobile data should never be compared with broadband. Do not suggest to use mobile data who is wanting to use broadband please.

BSNL fiber experience:
https://telecomtalk.info/community/bsnl-broadba...

I have been using Fiber for the past 3 years (currently on Jio Fiber). I believe BSNL fiber will be good too.

Also maybe BSNL cc/staff is not that good, but still it will be better than the local fiber lines, at least there’s a process for raising complaints and all.

Only thing coming to mind is.. your security deposit might not be easy to take out in future if needed.

@Seinfeld
I am having Airtel VDSL Broadband at home with Jio SIM through MR600 as backup. My wife and daughter are both working/schooling from home for the last 8 months. Based on the experience, I can confirm that JIO SIM with 2CA always have given better speeds than Airtel VDSL, both downloads and uploads. Airtel VDSL gives around 5-6 Mbps UL and 40-50 Mbps DL. JIO SIM provides 18-20 Mbps UL and 75-80 Mbps DL with CA on Band 3+40.
JIO worked without a problem even after super cyclone while Airtel was down for almost a week.

Yes I know, I have used jio on jiofi, airtel 4g on airtel Wi-Fi device .. but once you start using broadband, you’ll get way better stability even if you need just 10Mbps. Not bothered about speed.

Now if there’s no options, then only use wireless options.

finally the franchise installed it. What they said is due to lack of modem availability delay(10days) occurred. Bdw i applied online, Never set a foot in bsnl or any office. Kudos to the assigned bsnl officer he managed everything.
I applied 1k plan but they gave a 499 plan, but good thing is that they mentioned 30mbps but getting 60-70mbps…..
