A Min.155 plan is required.

128/129 also work. SMS cost is charged from main balance.

May be this is intentionally done, so even for porting number between operators, customer will need to recharge with a high value pack that has outgoing sms facility. Even TRAI had earlier instructed all operators to provide sms facility with low-cost packs, but they are clearly violating them.

Only PORT SMS is allowed in the Rs 99 pack. No other OG SMS.

You are not alone my I am  also getting there is contractual obligation....... msg. Vi is deliberately not providing port out & Trai is doing nothing.

Just send an email to TRAI. As far as port issues are concerned my experience with TRAI over the last year has been very good.

Vi is the worst. Just to keep the number active, Today I see that 99₹ is giving only 15 days, so for 30 days validity 198 recharge.

I thought I would port out, but they are blocking my port out message when I have talktime. I thought I'll do a basic recharge plan of 99 and send sms but even there are no outgoing sms allowed. So now do they expect an outgoing customer to spend 198 and port out or any other SMS facility pack which is surely above 125 bucks.

What nonsense.

Vi is still the best if one just needs to keep the number alive especially if it's not registered with banks/financial apps as it has stopped IC SMS even when it credits free OG for some days after no recharge for a while. One can place OG calls and/or use data to keep the number active. OTP over calls isn't an option in many apps.

Port SMS can be sent in any plan which has standalone validity. Definitely allowed in the 99 pack. If you do intend to port send an email to TRAI. It does work. In fact it seems it's the only consumer complaint besides unauthorised VAS/WAP deductions that TRAI deigns to look into.

P.S. Check the SMS service center. It was changed recently in Karnataka circle for example. After correcting OG SMS still couldn't be sent in the Rs 129 pack. It took Vi some 2 weeks to resolve it. Simultaneously the issue got resolved in 3-4 other SIMs. Vi wanted me to recharge in every no. before they would register a complaint.
