Hi,
There is a plethora of UPI apps available in the market however I wanted my parents to use one which is the most user friendly.
I don't care about cashback, the main priority is the UI as it is for usage by my parents.
Also I don't want to bombard them with multiple UPI apps, I'll suggest and install only one
Kindly share your views on this 🙏🏻

Gpay.
My parents also use only gpay
Phonepe
Personally I don't use this app much. However I have heard that they have best security. They personally keep on blocking suspicious UPI ID, so this will protect your parents from any kind of fraud. Also, it's light weight and UI is quite simple.
I can definitely suggest you one thing. Don't use Paytm because it's UI is quite complex.
Arey bhai. Whenever I open phonepe I see some and shand has requested 4900/6000 rupees from different accounts.
Freecharge is best check it's UI is damn clean
Freecharge and Payzapp both have a pretty decent UI especially for First timers. I don't do personal favorites for UPI apps, so it's your call.
What is the age of your parents? Hope they are below 60. Personally, I am of the view that Sr Citizens should not be activating UPI on their main acct as they are most prone to UPI frauds.
Paytm almost never have any transaction failures, unlike gpay. If that means anything to you...
Go basic... Not Fancy Apps
Bhim
Cred left the chat..
Make sure whatever app you use doesn't show ads/coupons/offers from gambling sites. Atleast PhonePe and Google Pay are showing such ads. I haven't tried others much.
Bhim app. Seedhi baat no bakwaas
The grandparents don't mind if the app is slow. They are accustomed to do things slowly.
However, they want the scan icon to be as big as possible.
They also don't want to see too much clutter.
They don't want to see ads either.
In order to choose the right app, show the screenshot available in the Play Store to them. Let them decide what attracts them. Choose a few based on screenshots. Install those apps and let them use each app themselves before deciding.
Good luck.
Check out Yes Pay Next from Yes Bank. I love the UI and smooth experience and have switched to it from Paytm/PhonePe/BHIM that I had earlier.
I second that. Yes Pay Next is decent. Also Kiwi as a standalone upi app is not bad either as they have a very minimalistic interface.
Phonepe
Avoid UPI or in fact any such online app related to banking.
You never know when elderly people get into conversation with someone claiming to be bank officials and scam out some money.
With rise in WhatsApp UPI, it is also a BIG risk now.
Sometimes it's better to not know a few things.
Yes you're right however my father is not a senior citizen actually. Just never used UPI apps (always maintained a separate smartphone and a normal keypad phone) as the primary device with main SIM however now it's extremely difficult as almost everything required the primary SIM im smartphone.
After considering everything, I chose Gpay for him. Phonepe is very good (the only problem is ads) and BHIm though minimalistic is slow for me personally. Let's see what happens.
Also I've advised him and have linked a completely isolated account of Kotak 811 dedicated to UPI transactions. Other accounts are not UPI activated
