Owning a new scooter and old scooter makes me realise the difference in quality, efficiency and cost.
old one is good quality, tough, low cost. New one feels fragile, low quality, high cost.
Do you guys think the same?
This makes me consider buying an ICE/EV scooter

Old means: LML Vespa, Bajaj Cub/ Bajaj Chetak old?
Or Kinetic Honda and initial version of TVS Scooty old?
Material sciences and affordability and possibility of scaling up operations using such materials has increased now.
Who could have imagine 100 years back, that
there would be 300-400 person carrying transoceanic aircrafts made of 'plastics'.
But now, entire 'hull' of the aircrafts and parts like engine nacelles are made of FRP (fibre reinforced plastics).
Some wisecrack even made a deep sea diving vessel (named: Cyclops 2/ Titan) made out of FRP and even chose to go deep sea diving in it.
Materials and engine technologies (efficiency) apart, at-least with motorcycles, back then there was more focus on pick-up or speed.. than fuel economies alone.
Two-stroke vehicles were a hit with youngsters.
Engines are definitely more efficient now, in comparison to the cost of manufacturing and maintenance costs for the end user.
Similarly, ride comfort and safety enhancement in tyre technologies or suspension too have gone up.
Nothing against previous era vehithough, as they too were advanced for the time.
However 'licence raj' stifled innovation and too m7ch investments in R&D was not a priority in India.
Now if one finds poorer ride comfort or cutting corners on safety, then it is more about corporate greed.
Now there is no dearth of resources like reasonably priced capital, access to technology, adequately skilled human resource, reasonable infrastructure and even support at the policy level.
So if still one finds similar issues in the products as earlier, especially build quality, safety, durability then the excuses of 'it will get too costly' to make them good.. does NOT apply.
Japan, China, Germany and even India have shown amply well that all such challenges can eventually be overcome, in a single person's lifetime.

With time workers become costly & demand high wages
Thats why companies degrade quality & quantity along with lay offs.

true that, but there is no point of buying it if the quality degraded.
