Outstanding support by Flipkart while equally disappointing support by Asus

I ordered an Asus laptop for around 51k on a relative's behalf from Flipkart during last year BBD sale. It was delivered within a week & everything seems to be working fine. However, after about 1.5 months the laptop was taken to Asus service centre for extra ssd install in the provided 2.5" empty sata slot. On opening the laptop there it was found that the ssd connector in the empty sata slot inside was broken. This connector is a very small part hidden beneath a thin metal like strip with screws. Clearly this was a case of manufacturing defect as it is simply not possible to break such a small thing inside laptop without leaving a scratch on the outside on laptop's body by way of physical mishandling during delivery. As I had purchased both extended as well as accidental damage protection warranty I asked the service centre to consider it under standard warranty as manufacturing defect. However my claim was rejected by Asus saying physical damage is only covered under accidental damage plan. I argued with their customer support for many weeks over phone about how this can be considered as typical physical damage when there is not even a scratch on my laptop. After no help from Asus I finally lodged a complaint at consumerhelpline website giving all the details. Within 2 days this matter was escalated to higher level in Asus but still they were not accepting my claim of considering it as manufacturing defect to be covered under standard warranty.

Being so disappointed with Asus I finally contacted Flipkart after almost 3 months of laptop purchase. I wasn't expecting anything as it is long past the 7 days return but I just wanted Flipkart to know how Asus is selling poor quality laptops having manufacturing defects on their website. I escalated the issue at Flipkart & gave them all the details of my case with Asus. To my surprise, a few days after submitting all the details regarding my case I was informed that Flipkart has decided to replace my laptop. I was still skeptical as this sounded too good to be true so I kept following with them & after a few weeks finally my laptop was replaced with a new unit of same model after almost 4.5 months of purchase.

I often see ppl commenting here about how Flipkart service is poor & they block account for returning even products priced a few hundred rupees. However for me their support was the best I had experienced in my entire ecomm purchase history of 10 years till now. Flipkart replaced a laptop with manufacturing defect which was clearly the fault of Asus & no fault of theirs after 4.5 months of purchase. If that's not outstanding then I don't know what is.

So nice to read this.

My experience with flipkart has been very nice too. Never felt them to be bad or inferior to amazon. Somehow their CS seems to be more customer friendly than Amazon in past 1 year or so. Amazon asks for too many proofs and have doubts in their voice, whereas FK seems to believe more in customers voice.

Also it seems FK have some internal customer ratings, by which they can identify which customer is good (just my feeling).

Will your old ADP and extended warranty be carry forwarded to new device?

I could but I chose to buy new 3 yrs ADP extended warranty plan for just Rs.500 more than what I paid for 1 yr ADP & 2 years extended warranty plan last year(asus launched new 2 yrs & 3 yrs ADP plan this year likely because of many complaints like mine regarding manufacturing defects as asus insisted on covering any physical damage even if obviously manufacturing defect only under accidental damage plan). I got refund on earlier ADP & extended warranty plan from asus.

Good to Hear that, Congrats.

FK has always been my go to site for anything valuable because of offers as well as product variety. Only once have I faced issue when my Printer was damaged during delivery and I had to chase them for replacement.

Having said that, I believe FK gets its bad reputation more coz of their shoddy delivery agents than poor service. Even in my case, it was the delivery agent who was cancelling pickup and have heard/read many, facing this issue.

Do they punish delivery executives in case of defect or what maybe the reason for their refusal to pick up?

Dang it pretty hard to believe as such sometimes they don't even replace/return under replacement period.

If i remember here or somewhere else a similar case where the person got a new laptop from fk & another new replacement from Dell/Hp also.

Asus deliver low quality products indeed, m also in the list who is suffering.

Apart from this, inhad faced similar thing with amazon, i bought noble skido tv which has a manufacturing defect, jeeves are keep on visiting to rectify but failed to do so, after frustration i complaint to amazon (after 1 month, and return period was over), they offered me a replacement or refund whichever i like.

But i rejected both as on the last visit the one of the jeeves engineer found that the one of wires  was damaged so he tapped that and everything was working fine ,(he also told me not to inform company about this as they think jeeves engineers are useless as they dod everything to rectify the issue even replacing the panel and motherboard 🤣).

Strange things do happen.

Rightly said bhai

I am also facing bad support from asus

I had purchased this new laptop(you know) three weeks back.

Everything was good. But I didn't check MS Office 2021 activation as I had to go out of station without my new laptop two days after it was delivered.

So now when I open any office product it is MS Office 365 instead of MS Office 2021 H&S

it asks for activation( buy/enter key)

I called Asus Customer support-

First Call- Straight answer we cannot do anything it is related to Microsoft so contact them and the person was not listening to anything.

after a while I called again-

Second Call- Very supportive he was, assured me to resolve the issue at the earliest. He checked we did few things but nothing worked. So he asked me to wait for expiry of MS Office 365 trial, then there will be activation option.

t

Today,

Third Call- After the support person suggested to the same steps as last one asked. I told him that all steps are done already. Tell some other solution. Now He was also like then it will be resolved by Microsoft.

I told him it is your product and Office 2021 is your offer, how come Microsoft come into play between Asus and me. If it has to be, then it will Asus and Microsoft as it is company level deal not an individual software purchase. But he was repeating the same thing.

Finally I called to Microsoft- As expected, they asked to contact Asus only.

I tried over google, found something like I can see in Microsoft store- in Library, it shows included with device-MS Office 2021

there is claim button but that also open same office 365 application and doesn't activate.

Any solution to activate office 2021 in the laptop

Uninstall Office app/s + re-install Office 2021 and try again. Brand support for software activations is kinda complicated.

PS: Got a ASUS Zenbook myself last year and Office activation is automatic (v2019 here) post linking MS account (+ it is permanent) and i suppose this is same with all branded laptops. So, if u had used a different MS account before then make the change and check too (You can try system reset too)

Congratulations on your positive news, @guest_999 🤗. I would like to share my experience with you. I lodged a complaint with Apple regarding my iPhone 13, which is only three months old, due to a camera laser issue. Despite having collected all necessary documentation of 116+ pages, including call logs, chats, and service center visits, Apple has refused to service my phone. I filed a complaint with the Consumer Forum, but I am still awaiting a response. Apple claims that they cannot repair the phone because it has a hardware issue, and according to their policy, hardware issues fall under warranty. However, they have refused to repair my phone due to the laser contact issue and the fact that I have visited three service centers. I have decided to challenge Apple in the Consumer Court and have already created a draft. I will also escalate this issue to Flipkart to see what they can do. Unfortunately, Apple does not have a maintained service center in India, which has made my situation more challenging. It's been quite an ordeal.

@Dastro Asus/all typical laptops come with win 11 home edition nowadays & during first setup it is mandatory to enter an email which will be the basis of your microsoft account later. Check in the inbox of the email you used while setting up the laptop for the first time after turning it on. Also, it is better to confirm you are signed in with a microsoft account(I suggest @ outlook ) before trying to launch any pre-installed MS product ready to be activated.

Yes, once  they were very helpful to me also. During covid lockdown, I have ordered a phone worth Rs 19k on EMI. But they couldn't deliver it for 30-35 days and later cancelled by seller. One emi got added into my cc statement before phone's refund received and bank refused to refund processing fees, 1st emi interest and gst. So, I mailed Flipkart regarding this refund. They asked for cc statement  and then credited fees, interest and gst amount (around Rs 700) to Flipkart balance. I didn't had to fight for this and even that was beyond their control. But still Flipkart refunded.

I also had similar experience with higher level customer support or grievance officers who helped me get extended validity for expired giftcards with just one mail,Their normal "support" is pathetic have zero idea and will almost deny 99% of the time no matter what with only a few rare exceptions.
