Paytm (mini kyc) mobile number change

I want to close my old SIM card/mobile number. But i have an active Paytm (mini kyc) account with this number. Paytm shows option for changing mobile number but displays a notification for uidai verification.
Will it verify new number with uidai? My new number is not registered with uidai.
What other things might happen?
