Please suggest tablets/supplements for Calcium. I just need some tablet with Elemental Calcium for my aunty whose age is 50+ years. Doctor prescribed it for Bone health. He has prescribed medicine but that is very complex composition and expensive too. So looking for plain calcium tablets which needs to be taken for 1 - 2 months. Thanks.

You can take Cal 360 which has CCM( Calcium Citrate Malate) which is better absorbed and well tolerated than popular Calcium Carbonate, but a bit expensive.

SHELCAL is normal tablet of Calcium with Vitamin D3 generally prescribed by doctor for bone health. But if you have taken doctor's advice(given it is good doctor based on history) please stick to the prescription then. Don't look for alternative just to save some pennies.

Better option might be to ask the doctor himself for alternatives

Doctor has given 4 different tablets when we asked for Calcium tablets. One of it is Vitamin D3 which is good. Other three are just to increase sales in his pharmacy. @navkr @MrMonkey

Why let the aunt even go to a qualified medical professional also?

Next time, simply ask all patients to simply post general symptoms on unrelated internet/ socialedia sites.
And we only will do the prognosis and start giving advice, instructions.‎ ‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‏‏ ‎ ‏‏‎‏‏‎ ‏‏

Unlike most doctors who charge for their consultations, this option would only cost you internet connectivity.
And a great, added advantage of self medication and poor, wrong advice is that it helps reduce the population too (helps increase the mortality rate).

Cipcal HD by Cipla. Frequently on 50-60% discount. Switched to it after more than a decade of using Calten-D prescribed by mother's rheumatologist.

Thanks for taking time to vent out your frustration.

Doctor has prescribed Elemental Calcium tablets (Cobuilt Plus) but that comes with other two elements (vitamin K2-7, Cissus quadrangularis and Calcium) as well but patient needs just Elemental Calcium tablets. This is the reason I posted suggestions for just Calcium Tablets.

And just because you suggest something, they do not go purchase and have it for years together. They will get it checked with experts and take it. Thanks again.

This answer is what you should know. Don't buy Ca.Carbonate as absorption rate is low in body. Natural is always better with small fish, milk products, nuts etc. All good Ca tablets will have some amount of Cholecalciferol (Vit D3) which is a must for absorbing Ca well in body. Daily 10min of outdoor activity also yields good amount of D3 through skin. Other supplements can be avoided in general.

Personally my choice is Osteo Plus caps for long term use. Generally for most females, Ca supplement is long term proposition to prevent osteoporosis port menopause.

Remember Calcium inhibits Iron absorption in body. If hemoglobin count is low(<10) then initial 6months  keeping a check on hemoglobin will be a good idea.

And don't waste time explaining your reasons for asking to nerds. This is a good question and before commitment to costly medicines, asking a thing or two about pharmacology & user experience is not a bad idea.
