How can I disable automatic updates for Proton VPN on the Windows app? I have searched for an option within the app but cannot find one. Is there a method to accomplish this or is it not possible? There latest update sucks, it doesn't let you manually choose from free servers. So, I downloaded old version. But I feel like it will get auto updated after next boot.
If turning of update is not possible, then kindly suggest some other free vpn for pc. Right now as far as i know proton is the only vpn that gives max speed to free users. I get 90% of my wifi speed with proton vpn.

what no manual choosing? damn now i'll not gonna update it anymore but sure they gonna force update for old version also in couple months
That's the worse part about proton. You can not manually turn off auto update. Latest update ( 28 Feb 2024) has ruined everything.
Modify URL to download older version
Latest is https protonvpn dot com/download/ProtonVPN_win_v2.4.3.exe
Change to 2.4.2 or 2.4.1
