Query on new Jio Fibre connection

Currently I am using GTPL for broadband & dish tv for TV channels. Fade up with service of GTPL. So thinking to swtich to Jio fibre.

Wanted to know few question

1) I am planning to take 599rs./month plan. 30 MBPS speed & 14 OTT channels. Will 30 MBPS speed will suffice to run TV channels or their will be lagging ?

2) Should i choose prepaid or postpaid ? any pros & cons of both? Can i recharge/pay bill with offers like Amazon pay/FC etc.

3) What will be the range of wifi? Do i need separate router to get good range of wifi to cover my entire home ?

4) Hows their overall service ?

5) Any other things to keep in mind while dealing with their employee ? Any offers etc. to ask for ?

30MBPS won't suffice if you use a 2k/4k tv. 🙂🙂🙂

Not all content will be 4K even on a 4K Tv.
+ As per Netflix 15 Mbps is recommended for 4K streams.

30Mbps is enough for a family.

Anyways even if you feel speed issues you can always recharge higher speeds for a month and try @drjpatwa .

Even with 30Mbps, when our family runs 4-5 devices parallely, I have seen 10 Mbps being unused. So try it out yourself.

1, 30Mbps should suffice.

2, I think 599 plan is only available in Postpaid.

I prefer prepaid. You can only pay/recharge from My Jio app/their own site. So payment option are based on their own gateway. No option from 3rd party site

3, Range is kind of Ok-good. May need an extension based on your house. I ve set my router to High range in settings.

4, Good for me, never faced much problem. I think only one down time.

5, offers change from time to time.. I would suggest to try 1 month 30Mbps and if not satisfied with speed then move to higher..

Take alliance(if lco is good) provides better ping than jio, can recharge from third party app so save 5-10% regularly, provides 4 months free on 8 months recharge on some packs true value for money, if u don't need above then go with jio it's good enough

Login to Jio Centrum..

Normally should be 192.168.29.1 and provide credentials. (On PC or Laptop is advisable)

Search for 5Ghz or 2.4ghz and you will get two results or options(one basic and other advanced). Search bar is present at the top right position.

Select one of them and play around with the options..(You should be aware of what you are doing) or else search over YouTube there are many videos.

PS: I am not responsible for anything 😉

Although the range difference might be negligible. You may find few things which you wanna change.

Do they all stream simultaneously and do other stuff like downloading etc? Requirement varies from person to person. I personally use 30 Mbps connection by Jio Fiber but my usage is limited to computer n mobile use only.

That's because streaming services use optimized bitrate & compression different from the one you see in bluray.

Thanks a lot guys for healthy discussion. So as per my requirement, 30 mbps will suffice. My father is going to use it mostly for tv. For net mostly whatsapp & sometimes utube. Also multiple device will be used only few times so won't be problematic.

2 TVs are mostly streaming HD quality, at the same time kids' classes needs live video and office work too needs zoom/ in house video based meeting software.

If you are specifically asking movie downloads, then NO.. very rarely we download movies, say once a month. Instead we try to subscribe to OTTs which we want.

If somebody is looking to download / keep torrenting heavily then I believe even 150 Mbps is slow for them.

I remember while I was on Fiber 150 Mbps plan and the whole family was using bandwidth, I used to run speedtests to see whats the idle bandwidth I am still paying for which we never used, and guess what most times I got over 100 Mbps.

Bhai, at that usage rate multi device simultaneous usage won't do any harm. 🙂🙂🙂

I'm planning to replace Airtel Fiber broadband with Jio Fiber just for more benefits. When I was onboarded to Airtel Xtreme broadband there was no Jio fiber at my place but recently they have started providing fiber services in my area. But my main concern is regarding services and better resolution on time, should I stick with Airtel connection?

My experience with Jio Fiber has been very good with zero downtime. Prepaid connection is a great fit for my requirements.

I'll recommend you to definitely go with JioFiber.. you can install JioCall and enjoy calls on your mobile free of cost using broadband connection only
