[Q&A] Reliance JIO: LYF-JIO 90 Days Promotion - All things covered!!!
So here is the thread with all answers regarding JIO free services for 90 days along with LYF handset purchase.
Important Numbers:
JIO helpcare is quick enough
JIO Helpcare: 1800-889-9999
JIO Money: 1800 891 9999
LYF Care: 1800-890-9999
Reliance Digital Toll free: 1800-103-1044
Call this no. if your sim is activated: 198 or 199
Q. What quality services i could expect from JIO ???
Their support is damn good.
Call quality is really cool, it was also mentioned by dimers in other threads(JIO mention it as HD Call)
Internet speeds range from 15-23 Mbps indoor and 30-50 Mbps outdoor.
Ping is 50-99ms if tested from reliable Indian servers.
Unlimited data with FUP makes this deal cool.
Free 4G data, unlimited calls, free text….
Other services include free music/movies/HD TV/magazines/news/many more which are available via different different JIO apps…
Q. Is RJIO live in my city ????
RJIO has PAN India licence however it may/may not be there in your area.
You may check the JIO network from other 4G handset with other 4G sim inserted. Just search the network, if you find the option there for RJIO, then yes then RJIO is available in your area.
Or you may call to JIO Helpcare.
Things to Remember!!!
One year warranty is already there however you may extend it to two full years via LYF Care app after entering required details within 15 days.
Extended warranty do not cover for battery, charger or accessories.
After receiving the handset, insert your sim in sim slot 1 and till when sim services/offer isn’t activated, don’t pit another sim in the handset as this may delay the activation of offer as reminded by dimers and confirmed by customer care guy
You may purchase LYF handset along with free JIO sim from nearest Reliance digital store. See the image below for supported stores.
Reliance Store locator >> http://www.reliancedigital.in/store_locator.htm...
Don’t purchase it online as you may not receive the sim and free services.
You may pay @ Reliance stores with Reliance digital gift card however do ask the store manager before purchasing and billing whether he has proper systems to redeem the voucher.
Q. What is the the cost ????
Below prices includes everything right from taxes to sim cost
Flame Series(Economical Option)
Flame 1 >> Rs.4999 (1GB RAM, 4.5 inch display)
Flame 2 >> Rs.3499(1GB RAM, 4 inch display)
Flame 3/4/5/6 >> Rs.2999(512 MB RAM, 4 inch display, no playstore on flame 6)
Refer for specifications >> https://www.mylyf.com/flame-smartphones-coll...on
I am not listing other series but you may find links below with their price range.
WIND (Rs.5999-6899)

EARTH(Rs.19499-19999)

Q. What free services attached with JIO ???
You will get free JIO sim bundled with promotional offer for 90 days from date of activation.
Promotion offer includes free calls/text/data for 90 days, yes everything free .
Within 24 hours your sim would be activated.
You will get two SMS/message on your alternate no. which you provided in the CAF form regarding SIM activation.
After you get the second message that sim is ready to be used and asking you to complete tele verification, you will start receiving JIO network on your JIO/LYF phone/sim. Do the tele-verification as told(entering last 4 digits of AADHAR Card No.)
After this your 90 days promo would be activated within 15 minutes or max 6 hours. It took 15 minutes in my case after i told JIO Care to get this activated as soon as possible.
You will also get FRC messages on JIO after unlimited offer is activated. In my case they did two FRC’s, one for 100 calls/messages and 2GB data and second with everything unlimited.
You can verify the same either by MyJIO app signup >> signin >> there you would see the offer.
Or you may call 199 from JIO phone, they will assist for that.
Q. Can we connect other devices with hotspot and free JIO Network data ???
Yes hotspot works smoothly with upto max eight users simultaneously
Q. 90 Days unlimited promo is for everyone or restricted to some users ???
Well JIO officially says you have to get an invite code from https://www.ji...m/
You will receive an email along with invite code within 15-30 minutes.
Take a printout of this email and present it before store manager while purchasing handset.
Some store managers though do not ask for invite code.
I confirmed with JIO about this issue to be on safe side, they said officially there there is no notice/information about this. They said if store manager claims this they you would definitely get the promo. On a safer side do present the invite code as getting an invite code is one minute work.
Also some managers claim that free data is restricted to 75 GB which isn’t true. Data is truly unlimited
Q. What other services i would receive along with Free Call/Text/Data ???
There are many premium apps from JIO which are free for 90 days like JIO Play for HD Live TV, JIO Mags for magazine and other. You may see all the apps in MyJIO App drawer/folder around 8-10 apps….
You can watch live TV, watch latest movies, latest magazines, local news, use JIO money…….
The login details which you created for MyJIO app would be valid across all apps except for JIO Money.
JIO Money app would provide Rs.15000 worth of coupons….
Q. Which phone/handset is recommended ???
Flame 2 is good because it offers 1GB RAM as compared to 512MB RAM in Flame 3/4/5/6.
Flame 2 is priced @ Rs.3499 for limited time after price cut.
If you have more budget shift to another series and plan accordingly.
Q. What comes with box ???
Along with handset and JIO sim, data cable, charger, earphone, screen protector and JIO guide would be there.
Q. Can i use different sim in LYF handset ???
Yes you can, infact its a dual sim phone and is unlocked to be used with any sim.
However before sim activation and offer being activated, don’t put any other sim as this may delay/lapse the 90 days promo offer.
Q. Getting slow speed ???
Try this hack, this may/may not be worthy:
Only for flame 2 users as it uses Mediatek processor
First dial star#star#3646633#star#star
Then select band mode then select sim 1(if u inserted jio in sim1)>band mode>unchek band 3&5>set
Check speed [Credit @Deals4U]

As the graphics are poor on Flame 2 so Antutu score was high, more than Xiaomi Redmi 1S
Speedtests & some hacks
1/2/3 Speedtest were on Band 3
Image above: 1/2/3 Speedtests were on Band 3
Image above: All speedtests were on Band 40
Increase your internet speed by choosing Band 40 by following the trick mentioned above.
Personal observations
Band 40 gives more speed(above 20Mbps) but high pings and
Band 3 & 5 gives slow speed(less than 15 Mbps) but low pings

@getready @gambitrite I am finally on the Jio network now. Thanks for all your help and advice.
Replaced my primary home broadband with a Jio connection today. Using Flame 1 tethered with my desktop via USB. Will try to setup the WDS bridging later on. Are there any optimizations that I should do? Getting only ~15 Mbps download and ~8 Mbps upload speed (I’ve gotten used to 50 Mbps up & down ).
@hese Your connection activated yet? If not, do call the store people. Apparently, they are supposed to upload digital copies of the form and ID proof within 6 hours and the activation happens within a few minutes of the upload. But many stores are backlogged by a day and they face “server issues” so they keep delaying the upload process.
CC @Navneet
it shows 15 mbps download speed, but download @ 700 to 900 kbps sometimes 1mb
today i got sim,a nyone pls confirm trick is still working? i generated code thru Lenovo vibe k5 plus.. can i activate unlimited ?

Only optimisation you can do is to place your mobile on bulky metal bar in an open area(outside window)
This way i got 56-57 Mbps instead of 31 Mbps
Indoor 16-22 Mbps is common
@getready wrote:
@DealSeeker There are not many optimizations for lyf snapdragon devices
For mediatek ones, we can change the 4G band [2300mhz band seems to be getting max speed, for indoors the other two low speed bands gets selected i guess automatically]
I placed my wind 6 near the window where i am getting max signal strength and using Windows 10 tether feature or the wifi extender (for saving wind 6 battery) to internet to other devicesI have been to places where i got only 3Mbps download speed, so it all depends on the location
And here I thought that buying a phone with a Snapdragon processor would be better!
Thanks for your inputs, bro. Hope the speeds won’t deteriorate much as more and more people get on to the Jio network.
@Navneet Thanks! Will surely try that trick. Knowing a thing or two about wireless signals, I can understand why that or something similar would work. Waiting eagerly for signal boosters for these Lyf phones.

Certain people have changed their LTE bands and have obtained higher speeds but the battery life decreases due to change in lte bands. It also depends on the signal strength of Jio. If the signal bar is full, you will get full speed i.e, 35mbps – 50mbps (varies a lot). Try to find at which point in your house, you are able to get maximum signal strength or keep it near to a window. Recently there is a lot of fluctuation in speeds, i am also able to obtain a average speed of 20mbps only for the past few days. Only while using IDM or Torrent to download files, i am able to get good speed. Check PM.
Any method to activate jio join in other phone connecting to my lyf wifi?
@getready @myliferockkss @gambitrite How much data do you guys consume on a daily basis under this preview offer?
JioPlay and JioOnDemand are excellent but they consume crazy amounts of data! The best part is that I am able to use the apps in my Android emulator on the PC so I am able to watch the HD movies and shows on my big screen TV connected to the PC. I like how the Jio apps automatically detect you as long as you use the Jio tethered/hotspot connection.
@gambitrite That trick to select the 4G band did not work on my Flame 1 phone, bro.
@DealSeeker 4-5gigs per day… on sundays 50gigs+
Jio play and jio on demand are Awesome…. and YouTube most of the time
@DealSeeker
I have consumed around 3tb until now
If network is fine, then around 50GB per day
Jio has lots of proxy issues, unless you have a premium vpn it feels frustrating at times
Initially i had issues with even gmail and outlook, they rectified it after some days
For PC streaming of jio apps, i use remix os installed on pen drive
If you have chromecast, you can try this too

Dude, talk about making the most of an opportunity! I won’t ask how you consume so much data.
Thanks for that tip about Andromium OS.

Anybody knows how to enable volte by rooting the device or by any method?? I’m using Xperia Z3+
@DealSeeker bro, Let me check, there was another method which was used previously by others. Right now on app, will let you know via PM if i come across it in the night.
I too consume a lot of bandwidth if i am free/on a holiday. Usually i download a lot of Korean, Chinese, English TV Series and Movies of all genres in any language which appeal to me and a lot of Games. Just 2 days back downloaded GTA V which was around 65gb file size and Counter strike Global offensive new version. I am not exactly sure but i have definitely crossed 1.5TB.
PS – Another torrent site bites the dust, Torrentz.eu has been shut down by its owners. CC: @hese

I m getting approx 5 mbps speed only on my RN3. Anyway to increase speeds?

You are checking network speed via speedtest.net?
Sometimes it gives wrong info like if your network speed is 20Mbps it will showing only 5
If you are talking about the download speed itself then its because of poor network coverage

Na actually it’s opposite. Sometimes it shows 11-12 mbps but i get poor downloading speeds even on PlayStore. Even on TRAI speedtest app speed is 5 mbps. Moreover i m not going towards speeds but talking about actual experience
