sbi bank account without debit card possible?

i have sbi bank account and the replacement debit card (due to rbi order of replacing non-chip with chip based card) is with branch from end of 2018 as i didnt receive it.
i was charged around 150 for annual fee last year.
earlier i was never charged for my sbi non-chip debit card which was having no expiry date.
as i dont find much use of sbi debit card + to avoid annual fee of 150+ which i will be again charged this year, so thinking of blocking that card and not getting any replacement card.
the undelivered sbi debit card is active and im able to see in active cards in internet banking.
i can see there is option to block atm card in internet banking but the reason listed are only below 3.
1. lost
2. stolen
3. unauthorized transaction
so which one to choose so that i dont get the replacement card automatically?
orelse is there any other way this can be done?

Choose option Lost and in details/comment write didn’t receive new card.
Note: I did same with my sbi debit card 2 months back.
You may still be charged even if you block the card. Take a visit to the branch and surrender the card(if you have) or if not talk to manager, you may have to submit a written request.
No they don’t charge if you block your card. If there are no active cards.
Same problem in every govt. bank
No charges… I followed the same process since 2017. Have not been charged a single penny

Manage cards
Manage debit cards
Select account number
Choose the card
Tap on block
Choose Lost
Fill reason
Submit
Card will be blocked in 24 hours (Most probably in next working day)
No further annual charges

how u blocked ur card?
Caution for all who have blocked DB.
If you lose your Internet banking password, it will be difficult to re-enable it again without DB.

What do you guys use the account for without debit card? I believe UPI cannot be activated without debit card. And as @ramadesidime mentioned, retrieving login information is another issue
I am maintaining that account since 2010. I have not seeded my PAN card with that..
UPI is working fine
Using for amazon send money offers and all that stuff.
how u blocked ur card?
my sbi debit card is nearing expiry date and i don’t want a new one. Some of the dimers have mentioned that sbi automatically sends a new card. However I don’t want it. How do i avoid this. Will blocking the existing card work?
