Did you get any written proof that the card is LTF? Or just she said it over the phone?

Raised closure request in Aug 3rd week for my rarely used SBI Simply Click
Rcvd call and she made LTF
my other card SBI Vistara also made LTF as per CC (confirmed today on call) - I guess LTF not good for this card as one free ticket for fee(Rs3600) payment will not be issued now
Though the lady assured me an email with LTF details by 29/Aug, no email rcvd
Raised another closure request y'day and CC called and told me both cards are made LTF on 23/Aug.
My renewal is on 04/Sep(SimplyclickCard) and not charged, will know Vistara in Jan'24

SBI card app>services>card closure request. You will get a call from the retention team within an hour.
First time they will waive the annual fee.
Second time they will ask you to enjoy it till next year since they already waived off.
Then on multiple closure requests they may provide LTF offer. They made ola SBI card LTF for me.

Same condition with me. I said customer care to send me an email regarding this. Then I received email in which they mentioned that your card is free from annual fee charges.

Last year i did the same and confirmed them twice over email that my card is converted to life time free..
but now they charged fee on that card and denied to revert even after showing them proofs..
Might need to complain in rbi ombudsman

SBI Credit Card Retention Team be like -
"Why are we getting so many requests for card cancellation since Wednesday? 😵 We haven't had a proper break all day long and we'll need to do overtime today 😬 Curiously, everyone is happily retaining their card IF we make it LTF."
SBI Higher Management be like -
"Our earnings from credit cards fees will take a hit in Q2 FY 2023-2024 since we are having to convert so many cards to LTF. We'll need to update our market guidance and this will push our stock down."
Then someone in SBI does a search for "SBI Credit Card Cancellation" and stumbles on this DD thread - "Aahaa! So this is the root-cause of our troubles 😡".
Then they contact the DD admins -
"What will it take to make this thread and any future threads like this go away?"
This fictional story is being cut short due to the risk of me getting blocked by a DD admin 😅

I got my Ola Money SBI CC LTF recently.
It was a FYF CC, for 2nd year I was charged fee and just before the end of 2nd year, I went ahead with card closure, so, they waived off the fee I was charged at the beginning of 2nd year and didn't charge me at the beginning of 3rd year.
So, ultimately pure LTF after charges were waived off for 2nd year.
I've Cashback CC too, it was FYF as well and had spent more than Rs. 2 lakhs, so, annual fee for 2nd year was charged and then waived off in subsequent statement.
If I'm unable to spend more than Rs. 2 lakhs on Cashback CC in current yearly cycle which I'm pretty sure I won't be able to, then I'll place a card closure request towards the end since I actually don't want to close it mid way as it's anyway free for current annual cycle. At least will wait for 6 more months so that the usage pattern is clearly visible that I'm unable to spend much on the card now and would keep it only if it's LTF. What's your opinion dimers?

when I asked they told me that
as per the RBI guidelines if a customer do not respond after closure request, Bank is bound to close the card
( after few days account reactivated and new card issued by customer service head)

Tried on 5 months old card, denied for ltf straight away
. Works only on minimum 1 year and above cards with good usage initially or all the time.
