Did you get any written proof that the card is LTF? Or just she said it over the phone?
SBI Cards made LTF after closure request

Raised closure request in Aug 3rd week for my rarely used SBI Simply Click
Rcvd call and she made LTF
my other card SBI Vistara also made LTF as per CC (confirmed today on call) - I guess LTF not good for this card as one free ticket for fee(Rs3600) payment will not be issued now
Though the lady assured me an email with LTF details by 29/Aug, no email rcvd
Raised another closure request y'day and CC called and told me both cards are made LTF on 23/Aug.
My renewal is on 04/Sep(SimplyclickCard) and not charged, will know Vistara in Jan'24

It can be confirmed by calling th regular customer care helpline. The executive will be able to see whether the card is currently lifetime free or not

SBI card app>services>card closure request. You will get a call from the retention team within an hour.
First time they will waive the annual fee.
Second time they will ask you to enjoy it till next year since they already waived off.
Then on multiple closure requests they may provide LTF offer. They made ola SBI card LTF for me.

SBI Credit Card Retention Team be like -
"Why are we getting so many requests for card cancellation since Wednesday? 😵 We haven't had a proper break all day long and we'll need to do overtime today 😬 Curiously, everyone is happily retaining their card IF we make it LTF."
SBI Higher Management be like -
"Our earnings from credit cards fees will take a hit in Q2 FY 2023-2024 since we are having to convert so many cards to LTF. We'll need to update our market guidance and this will push our stock down."
Then someone in SBI does a search for "SBI Credit Card Cancellation" and stumbles on this DD thread - "Aahaa! So this is the root-cause of our troubles 😡".
Then they contact the DD admins -
"What will it take to make this thread and any future threads like this go away?"
This fictional story is being cut short due to the risk of me getting blocked by a DD admin 😅

My card is very old.I mentioned the reason as not using the card. I genuinely tried to close the card and they convinced me to keep the card as LTF.
