SBI kyc harrassment + collecting lots & lots of personal info

Anyone else facing this repeat KYC calls from SBI? They have a 3 page kyc form asking all kinds of details.

RBI rule says they should not force customers for 10 years if they are low/no risk & there is no change is status (POI or POA). They already have aadhaar anyways.

I had done the kyc couple of years back with them in good faith that it had been a long time.

But they are forcing me to do kyc once again now.

Other banks (private) are not forcing this very frequent kyc process like how SBI is trying.

I see this as a data mining exercise rather than any KYC verification.

Complain to ombudsman for harrassment?

You are which risk customer that you don't decide. This decision is with bank and you have no say in it.

Also, it's not like bank employees are very free to harass you and waste their time processing your kyc and running behind you. Please co-operate with them or they can freeze your debit too.

Data mining and their upsell / cross sell ideas (insurance , mf, advisory service) when you visit them everytime are good enough reasons to term them as harrassment

SBI is crap! Move out. Any activity in their branch will take 2 hours (if lucky) or you need to visit 2nd time to finish it.  There will be 10 counters but only 1 operational and they always have "server issue". Try taking a DD, they will make you run from counter to counter. The same is done within minutes in a single counter in a pvt Bank.

I am with ICICI, HDFC & Citibank. At least they are not asking for frequent KYC. I don't even remember when was the last time I stepped into the bank.

Not sure when you visited the SBI branch last ?

Gone are those days when there used to be long queues or server down issues or multiple counter non-functionals.

SBI bank as a whole has improved a lot in the past few years. Few branches or employees can be exceptional in every case.

But overall they are now much quicker towards the request and concern.

Also, net banking or apps are also improved. So this way reduces the effort to visit branches.

For KYC, you can email your branch with required details attached ( incase details  are same ) and that will get updated if you think visiting the branch may result in time consumption.

Having SBI account since 10 years..kyc was done only once in last 5, 6 years..

This is the only good thing happened to me in SBI..

Manager of SBI bank told me once that we do kyc every 3rd year

Please be very careful with the information. 

They can use such amount of personal info to link You with Electoral Bonds. cold_sweat

Mera to airtel payment bank wala pareshan kar rakha hai.. adhar dene ke baad bhi bola raha data mismatch.

Old adhar mang raha.. wo kaha se de usko.. ye kahi se download hota hai kya old . Maine to lagta hai 8 10 change kiye honge adress abtak.. old adhar kaun rakhta hai.. acc ko freeze kar rakha hai rekyc ke naam par.. puchhne par wahi same copy paste chipka raha .. mujhe kya kya dena hai.. like robot
