SBI Offering me a Credit Card without CIBIL. Is it worth it ?

Greetings dimers.
So, SBI folks called me and said they are offering me CC [Simply Save], with 1 lac [will confirm at the bank]. I never had a credit card, and never took any loans. So, basically, I have NO CIBIL. But, they told me it's alright, we can issue you a CC without CIBIL, because you are on the 'list' of people who were offered this card. The card has a 500 joining and renewal fee.

So, my question is should I get this card? Is it worth it? If I get this card, how long before my CIBIL is generated, and can I get LTF cards like Amazon Pay ICICI, or other cool cards. smile

Any suggestions or advice are welcome.

Simply SAVE is for offline stores and Simply CLICK is for online stores
SBI Cashback Card is better..

I probably won't use the card that much tbh. So, I would prefer a card that's ltf or has the least fee. SBI cb card has 1000 pa.

Anyways what they are offering me is simply save, I'll ask them if they're offering other cards or not. Ty.

How you guys check for pre-approved offer for Sbi account?

You sure these guys are from the bank and not the credit card agents? If you got savings account with them then there's a possibility for a pre-approved card based on MAB (through home branch) but if you got no relationship with them then this is a fake offering.

Anyways, getting first credit card is not a big deal these days. Many offer it just based on banking relationship (zero credit history & income proof) and even building credit history/score is no big task (You can do that just via PayLater accounts or FD cards) and once you get a card or two with decent limit then you can get many other cards easily (ICICI Apay approval is instant [Check for offer banner on amazon] for existing customers - savings acc / credit card)

Yes , the call was from folks from my branch. I've had an sbi a/c since 2017. They said my name was on a 'list' of people who are being offered this card.

I'm leaning towards getting this card (or any card if it's better) so as to avoid fd based cards or have to use bnpl services to create & improve my score, & i don't have to open another a/c as i already have an a/c with sbi.

So, IYO should i go for it? I would probably only use it for bill payments, some online transactions (not much), petrol, etc.

ask them to give u elite of prime with annual and joining fees u will get good limit and fee based cards are less in demand so easy approval, close after 1 year

by then u will have 1 or 2 good LTF cards based on C2C

nothing works go for this simply save or SBI BPCL but take this pre approved offer

What card were they offering?

As a beginner with no CIBIL this is a decent start. Can be used during sales too.

If your spends are mostly online, ask for Click and if you think you can't reach annual spends of 1 lakh for fee reversal opt for BPCL card as it comes with 50k annual spends for fee reversal.

None of these cards work out well for accumulating points as there are better entry level cards. Just for sales and odd purchases.

Make sure about 1 lakh limit, because they often start with lower limits.

take the card and if you are unable to meet the target spending for the fee waiver offer and/or wants to earn few reward points too, be in touch with me.

They are just credit card agents calling. You will have to submit income docs. Physical verification will be done

No that is only based on bank  account status

UPDATE: Went to the bank today. They offered me SBI simply save/click, pulse, prime and elite.

I opted for simply click, but told them to hold my application, because i thought i should get the best one, instead of making decision in a hurry.

So, my fellow dimers kindly advice/guide me which card should i opt for?

Or if u have any better options LMK.

I was thinking to get a good enough card (better the current card better the chances of getting higher tiers cards easily via c2c), then use it for a year then close it.
Is it a good strategy or should I just get started with the basic save/click card.

Mind you, i probably won't use the card that much, just for paying bills (elec, water, lpg, recharge), and to build the Credit score and to get better cards.

Kindly advice.

P.s. : they told me that the cashback card is only available in metros and even they cannot get their hands on it in my city.

Glad to hear that was a genuine call. As you have already decided to go with simplyclick which IMO also is a good choice.

click - if you don't want to spend much, not interested to pay fees

prime - for better limit

don't opt for card protection plan - also say no to auto debit

Pulse, prime and elite are geared towards affluent/lifestyle segment.

If you don't have any other option ATM or in near future and generating a credit score with minimal loss/spending is your main goal; then, IMO, you'd opt for:

SimplyClick(RuPay) > BPCL(RuPay)* > SimplyClick(VISA) > SimplySave(RuPay)

Thank u for the response. I am going with simply click - visa. As they were not offering this card with rupay.

Anyone knows if Amazon pay ICICI accepts card on card basis application.

I was trying to apply few months back as it showed no docs required in amazon but to go through video kyc it's asking for itr & computation of income so is it gonna work if I upload cc statement & bank statement?

Check @some1anywhere964 posts regarding this.

Most people get over that hurdle by 1. having an ICICI Savings A/C and/or 2. having an existing ICICI CC.

SBI sanctioned my home loan back in 2014 when I had no CIBIL history (it was showing as -1) in their system. Having No CIBIL history is not a bad thing.

If you need the card go ahead and take it.

Same offer presented to me. It was my first card, she advised me to take simply save. It was my mistake to take as most of my transaction are online, so after 2 months I have to flip it to simply click.

They have both cards options but they will force you to take simply save card to achieve their target.

Which cc gives more cb/rp for insurance premium payments ?

Deal Lieutenant Deal Lieutenant

If you can pay from amazon pay balance, buy amazon gv at 5-8% and then pay using that. Else axis ace still gives 2% i believe and sbi cb gives 1%

Imp. Update: I have got the verification call, I told them to turn auto-debit off as suggested by a dimer here.

Then I received the 'e-sign application form', but in it, it says that I've consented to turn auto-debit ON (check SS) and hence auto-sweep ON too.

So, I called the executive and he told me that auto-debit has to be enabled so that the joining fee can be deducted and I said no I want it disabled so he told me it's a good thing to keep turned on and that it won't be possible to process the application further for above mentioned reasons and that it can be turned-off Afterwards on sbi card website or something, by printing a form and mailing it.
But I've read it is a hassle to turn-off auto debit in sbi, which I do NOT want.

So, is this legit? What do I do now?
Cuz I want auto-debit to be off.IMG20230116152822

Either file a complaint now and continue with the escalation headache; or proceed now with auto-debit on, and as soon as the CC# is generated, file a request for termination of the mandate.

Is this legit?
Well, congrats. Now, you've met the first stubborn knucklehead at SBI Cards. There will be many.

UPDATE: I got the card a week or so ago... Its limit is only 10000. I've called the agent, he told me 'let's get this card blocked and get a new one', to which I said no. As he seems to only care about his commission, I feel like he's lying to me again that this new card will indeed have a higher limit.

I've been calling him after that and he agreed to meet me at the bank branch, but when it's time to meet he goes radio silent and does not pick up my phone. What can I do in this situation?

P.S.: I have not yet activated the card.
P.P.S: I have recordings where he can be heard assuring me that the limit will be around 1 lac.
