seborrheic dermatitis🤔

From couple of weeks m facing dandruff problem, even after doing oil chumpy or using headn shoulder, it is not going away, so thought may be due to winter dryness.
But after visiting doc, she said it is seborrheic dermatitis and this is a lifelong disease, she recommended some shamppoo and lotion and keraviv (which is a costly procedure) but again she said this is not curable.

Anyone faced such or heard of this?

There are so many skin conditions, and they all differ from one from another. Stay hygiene and follow doctor's advice (Topical medications + Do's/Dont's)

^^ You can get a second opinion if you aren't sure about the dermatologist/diagnosis

Temporary relief i achieved and revisited doc, she told me to go for keraviv and to stop what she prescribed earlier.

I skipped visiting her, and now problem comes back.

Yeah mother had in 2020. It was cured (external symptoms at least) within 3 months from start of medicines. Didn't know it was a lifelong thing!

Ketoconazole and Selenium Sulphide shampoos help. Need to used on a frequent basis when you feel it is coming back.

dude listen, I have been suffering from dandruff for past 5 years. i don't want to discourage you here but, I want to tell you the truth.

NOTHING WORKS, srsly once you get the dandruff, you can't completely get rid of it. whoever saying otherwise is either lying or never experienced dandruff in their f.ing life.

it looks like you might have seborrheic dermatitis. don't get all panic. it's just dandruff but, little severe like you have. do you have flakes on any other of your body?

I have been to countless no of doctors and used every anti-dandruff shampoo I can find. the result is same. you can't get rid of it completely.

I finally give up and learned to live with it. dandruff/seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic condition. it may look like it's gone but, it will eventually come back. the best we can do it keep it under control. even after everything it sometimes flares up like crazy. don't lose your mind over it.

here are the things that worked for me:

1. keep your hair short. the sun really helps.

2. do not wash your hair with hot water. it worsens the condition. use cold water.

3. if it's feasible to you take a head bath daily. you don't have to apply shampoo every time. apply shampoo "that works for you" every other day or every 2 days.

4. no shampoo/no poo doesn't work for us. hair will become too greasy and itchy.

The shampoo I use: Cipla 8x shampoo every 2 days and Nizoral 1% on every Sunday( because it over dries the hair). 8x works wonders for me. if I hadn't found 8x years back I would have killed myself a long time ago because no other shampoo worked for me.

I have seborrheic dermatitis. my scalp is very itchy and it bleeds a lot. with these I can keep mine under control. dandruff is still there but at least now it's not as severe as before.

if you want to talk more about it in detail feel free to message me.

also, what's the color your and texture of your dandruff ? is it brown or yellow? is it dry or oily dandruff?

As doctor already said that this thing isn't curable, you should continue what she prescribed.

I will suggest Yoga Aasans, headstand(increases blood flow) and other Aasans which promotes gut health. Do these rigorously and consistently for 1-2 months to see results. May or May not work but you have nothing to loose.

I have to shampoo my hair every day to get rid of dandruff. Doctor says my skin dries quicker..reason why I get dandruff so frequently.

Was a biopsy performed to confirm the diagnosis? In my case (not Seborrheic Dermatitis ) the dermatologist prescribed Amoxycillin and Fluconazole to take care of both bacterial and fungal infections. A test(s) to confirm the cause would have been the best course instead of prescribing multiple antibiotics to cover most. At least the visible dandruff went down significantly but still not completely eliminated.

No biospy performed, she looked my head and confirmed

Same dandruff problem here, not sure about the disease. But dandruff is not completely curable but you can limit it.

I'm using this from last one month.

Just Herbs Ayurvedic Anti-Dandruff Soya Protein Shampoo For Strong & Bouncy Hair For Men & Women- Sls & Paraben Free- 200 ml https://amzn.eu/d/2...VM

Earlier dandruff was too much but it's in control now. Again it depends person to person.

I'm also diagnosed with Dermatitis but it is spongiotic dermatitis / atopic dermatitis.

I have taken treatments through both Ayurvedic and Allopathic practitioners.

Ayurvedic approach was mainly through controlling diet and cleaning of gut. Dietary restrictions included avoiding of yoghurt, eggs, non-veg, spicy and preserved foods like Papad and Pickles.

Allopathic approach was mainly through Anti-Histamine tablets and Topical Steroid creams.

Situation can be controlled and can't totally be cured as per allopathic practitioners but ayurvedic practitioners say it can be cured.

Other factors that aggrevate the dermatitis atleast in my case is weight gain and stress level.

Stress is the biggest criminal here i guess

It's just a dandruff. Why are you so scared? You need to change shampoo as the resistance increases. That's common for anyone. No need to spend money visit Dermatologist every now and then. It's a  condition and can be well controlled. Just keep the anti dandruff shampoo for 10-15 min and rinse off. Once dandruff controlled use the shampoo as maintenance. All these will be mentioned on the shampoo too.

Not necessarily. In my case it's very likely a fungal infection (dermatologist didn't feel it was necessary to divulge any details for some reason). If correct the fungi reside within the hair follicles which means no amount of shampoo can help. I had gone through 2 bottles of 2% Ketoconazole shampoo with zero improvement. Apply shampoo in the afternoon and by the evening it's back to square one. Daily application didn't help either. It's still not completely eradicated which should have been the case after completing the course of antibiotics but apparently there's a time lag between the elimination of the organisms and symptom alleviation so I am waiting it out. Otherwise another visit to the doc will be necessary.

Apply and gently massage your head and scalp with plain and pure coconut oil in the nights, for about 2 weeks. You ll find the difference in 10 days itself. I Read somewhere that lack of moisture due to dry skin causes dandruff, the oil would moisturize your head and hence skin wouldn't get dried up, resulting in a No Dandruff head

Works like a charm in 2-3 applications, whenever there is an attack. Dosage - twice a week.
