Shaheed and martyr are religious terms. Should they be used for Indian soldiers killed in battle?

@Harish.agarwal

Actually OP wanted a debate whether to use martyr and shaheed or not. OP didn’t ask you to suggest some moronic disrespectful things.

First of all they were not killed in field battle against other country in war.
Battle one on one ladi jaati hai without using terrorist as shields and brainwashing people.

They are martyred in fighting against bloody terrorists aka math teacher or son of headmaster. That too against terrorists from own country brainwashed by many factors and people refer those militants as martyr for fight for religion/brotherhood/jihad terms used by them.

yes there may be no such term officially but this applies on other titles too
like Mahatma gandhi was never declared father of nation by indian govt, yet we people respect him saying father of nation
“Mahatma Gandhi is the Father of the Nation and people hold him in high esteem, beyond any formal recognition” : Chief Justice SA Bobde

Same on Bhagat Singh, we respect him and others as Martyrs but not officially announced by govt.

While above terms are not official but still logical and respectful for people sacrificed their life BUT apart from that we even called leaders killed in assassination as Martyrs, you can find on google.

So for the army people using this term unofficially by people is same as showing respect for their sacrifice for the people of country at risk of own death for no personal reasons.

Also no taxes or cess on calling them martyr, just 2 seconds need to use martyr.

If anyone still force his opinion on others saying don’t call them martyr even unofficially, they can do one thing, before dying for nation they write a letter and ask people not to call them martyr. I fully assure you no one will call them martyr.

As long as a soldier gets proper respect in its (it, because soldiers have no gender) homeland, any word like these should suffice. Vir Gati is also a word, which is widely used.
