Thanks to this forum, I successfully converted my SBI cashback card to a lifetime free. I used to send emails through the SBI App every month, emphasizing the high annual fees and requesting a lifetime free card, but they denied my requests every time. However, once the card turned one year old, I tried again without clearing the bill, and this time they successfully converted my card to lifetime free. I've spent around 3L, and I recommend others to try without clearing the bill to avoid the chance of closure.

I am holding two sbi cards . Simply click and cashback. Initiated cancellation from app and got callback from sbi team and they happily converted cards into LTF. Not much bargain required.

Only points to remember -

Card should be older than 1 year and good transaction history

The same happened to me last TO Last month they charged me an annual fee and have sent the mail to them to close the card they asked me to clear out the bill then again this month I have sent the mail they converted it to LTF
