I have this Kent water purifier. Strange question popped into my mind tonight - is it better to switch off this water purifier every night (maybe this saves electricity or any other benefit)? Or better to keep it running 24x7?

It is to be noted that there is power cut 10 times a day for few seconds, so on-off already happens many times a day.

Why not turn it on only when you use?

Just fill matka or water bottles

The only reason I would ever switch it off is if you are having power fluctuations.

It auto cuts the power as soon as the tank is full so I do not see any point in manually switching it on and off.

Why would anyone want switch off RO and wait to completely empty the RO water tank and then wait for it to fill. Why not just leave the RO on and let it be filled always so you always have a full tank of water when ever you need.

Why just simply complicate your own life where it is not needed.

Accha jokes apart, we switch off our Livpure and Kent ROs every night because there could be electricity fluctuations.

Out of the context, if u remove motor and ro candle, then it can become normal filter which gives u clean (with mineral) water that too without electricity.

Ps - it doesn't matter whether u power it off or not, it has an auto cut facility.

Here is what we follow:

Switch on Kent in the morning (7-8) and switch off after it fill, u can even fill the bottles for day use when its filling.

If required repeat the same around 4-5 in the evening.

I saw few people keep it on 24/7, but did not find it useful..

Or may be even u can set a routine by using a smart switch.

Here in Bengaluru flats water comes from water tanker which gets filled to main tank above the society flat and gives geyser like water during the day. Then it gets filtered in real time and we don't want to drink that hot filtered water, so we switch it off. We fill the filter tank during morning and evening.

ok, so i don't know if many of you know most branded RO system flushes the RO cartridges after a set time so that is does not get clogged by salt and other impurities by drying even when tank is full. So you may do more harm by switching it off .

Looks like your water purifier is order than you. 😜

Sales are going on, please buy new one instead of servicing it.

Also to note, don't switch off the appliance. If you forget due to age factor to switch ON, you will not have water to drink when required.

I hope that is not a trash bag / can next to it in the photo. OP, please keep some cleanliness around the water purifier area otherwise the benefits of purification will be undone by the surroundings.

It is a dustbin only. But water is inside the plastic outer case of purifier. So still the cleanliness will be undone? Why? 🤔

Recently I assembled a water purifier myself & threw out aquaguard shield which has high AMC & substitute spare parts, filter cartridges are not available in local market due to design, shape length. You don't need to switch off power supply of your RO as it has sholonoid Valve which gets turn off automatically once tha tank is full. No power is consumed by any components once RO auto turn off solonoid valve & the motor.

Some purifiers throw UV light on purified water if there is no use for 6-8 hours. I don't think Kent has that feature so yes, you can turn off. I don't think you can save lot of electricity though.
